Payson is sweet enough to share his helmet with Everett. He’s pretty much given it to Everett since he knows Everett loves it so much.
And that’s what this post is about… Everett loving that helmet! A lot!
Just to tomorrow night. I just want to fast forward to tomorrow night. Then it will be the night before I have my baby instead of the night before the night before I have my baby.
But I can’t complain or be impatient or anything of the sort because I only have one more day as a pregnant lady. I have only one more day until I meet my son. One more day. Tuesday my baby boy will be here!
Goodness gracious what am I going to do tomorrow?!?! I’m going to be pacing around like a crazed woman with anticipation!! Even though I can barely walk (truly, it’s horrifying) I might just have to stay out of the house all day tomorrow with Ember to distract myself.
Maybe I’ll take her to a movie at the dollar theater. Or maybe a visit to the library? Or maybe just a Costco trip?
Or maybe I actually feel like passing out with exhaustion at just the idea of those things and I’ll lay around on the couch and watch Nickjr all day with her? haha
I had the very best time watching the BYU game with Allan this weekend! Such a good game!! It was the most perfect timing ever, too, because that day was particularly bad physically. Everything on my entire body hurt for some reason.
An exciting football game was just what I needed!
If you know anything about BYU football you’ll know that BYU fans and Utah fans are not BFFs. Or anything close to it. Rivals… big time rivals.
Saturday night was the game we dread all year waiting for football season. The Holy War it’s been named by media. What media? I dunno. But that’s what they call it and it really does feel like going into battle for the fans involved!
So all day long Allan and I were nervous to watch the game. But I decided to ease that and cure my impatience problem I’d make another fun game day for the kids. They really love the mini football type parties we are having this year 🙂
We had to go to WalMart for some food items. I swear it feels like I’m always completely out of food. I’d stock up but then I tend to lose things in my pantry, fridge, and freezer and they go bad. Buying for three days at a time is the only way I handle food usage well!
Oh yeah, so, the night before that I’d been kept up by Ember most of the night (who knows why) and was e x h a u s t e d. I told the big kids to play nicely for another hour or so while I slept in a bit more with Ember, who was finally sleeping peacefully once the other three were up at like 6am! haha
I was shocked when I got up almost two hours later and the family room was clean! They had decided to clean it up while I slept! This is the first time this has ever happened and I was left speechless. They usually get into food and make HUGE messes all over the house if I don’t get right up with them!
My kids were in heaven getting hotdogs again when they’d just had them two weeks before. I try not to give them hotdogs often but they LOVE hotdogs. And rootbeer! And chips! And french fries! It’s like a food holiday!
Since the game started later in the evening we only let the kids watch the first quarter before sending them to bed. The game was pretty intense anyway so it was nice watching it without them around 😉
Oh my gosh Payson and Ember were being SOOOOO adorable playing football games with their toys!!! It was difficult to send the kids to bed when they were being SO freaking cute!! Brooklyn and Sierra, too. They were watching the game and asking about plays… one of those moments where you almost let them stay up but then realize the next day will be a million times happier if you don’t! haha
BYU lost 13-20. Total bummer. And the next day I heard about some fans who were throwing garbage at the refs as they exited the field and that made me even more upset than losing. Fans who show disrespect suck and I’m still annoyed that students would do that. Stupid kids.
Normally Allan records the football games so we can watch them once the kids go to bed. Our kids are a loud and crazy bunch and enjoying a TV show (or football game!) with them around isn’t really a possibility.
But since it was the very first game of the season we thought it’d be fun to have a family affair of it. I prepared a football-friendly lunch (corn dog muffins, chips and dip, root beer, and football shaped brownies!) and we got in the football spirit with black under the eyes and all of the footballs we own (four?) brought out and thrown around.
The kids were excited. Allan was excited. The day was set to be awesome.
I would’ve really loved to eat a corn dog muffin but, baby on board means nope to the hotdogs! Oh well, my salad was delish, too! (I did have chips and guac! I made that guacamole that morning and it was SO good! Extra lime and cilantro is my faaaaaave!)
We ate just before the game started and then I smeared black paint under the kids eyes and showed them intimidating faces and muscle poses. They were having a blast running around posing (they were breaking out some awesome football poses before I grabbed my camera!) and saying, “Go BYU!” and “Go cougars!” and a bunch of other supportive stuff like that 🙂
I had planned on printing out the lyrics to the fight song for the girls to practice (because they always want to learn it) and was pleasantly surprised when Brooklyn asked that morning if I could print the lyrics out. She hadn’t known my plan and wanted to learn it all on her own.
I printed the lyrics and then we watched a youtube video with the music and lyrics and sang along three or four times. haha! Ember kept saying to play it again and again! She loves the “rah rah rah” part!
And Brooklyn and Sierra were obsessed with making up cheerleader moves all morning, too! They kept wanting Ember to join them for some cool tricks. I have a bunch of videos of them doing these but only a few pictures. Lucky for you 😉
(this post is so long)
So the football game itself was quite an experience. First of all we weren’t playing well in the first quarter. Allan and I were kinda bummed but… we support our team no matter what! But then there was a lightning storm and they delayed the game TWO hours! So by the time it started playing again we only got to watch a bit more before the channel we were watching stopped coverage to switch to a different football game and we had to listen to the rest of the game on the radio online! It kinda, a lot, sucked! haha!
And then… we lost because of some yucky plays and… it was a big disappointment of a day! haha. But we were still in good moods and had a great time as a family.
During the lightning delay the kids were SOOOOOOO cute playing football with their toys and with each other!! I should’ve filmed it because it was seriously adorable! They had a blanket set out as a field and they looked at a picture online to learn how to line up all the toys just right and they had our small, toy football and they were running routes. And then Brooklyn and Sierra (Payson and Ember were playing with smurfs, ha) kept practicing plays they made up and kept track of their touchdowns and everything. TOO cute! And Brooklyn and Sierra drew a bunch of football themed pictures. It was so sweet!
I didn’t photograph any of that because I was just enjoying the day with the family. I did have Allan snap a picture of Ember asleep on me during the game.
