Meeting Allan for Lunch

It felt awkward meeting Allan for lunch this day. A lot of what I did in those first days after discovering his lies was just going through the motions. I didn’t know that I should have just been protecting myself. I still tried to pretend all was well. But being around him was often traumatizing. In public it was worse.

So that’s what went on with me internally during this lunch. I’m guessing the kids had fun and Allan had a good time without a clue of the blackness he’d injected into his wife’s brain. He wasn’t very supportive at that time. (These photos are from October 2nd)

Back then especially picking up my camera to take pictures was just going through the motions. I had no desire (which is so odd for me) but felt like I should. Even taking pictures of Allan… I do it for his sake and most especially for my kids’ sake. I don’t want to deprive them of memories that exist. To them this day is probably a good memory. I feel now like that gives me hope for them. I feel like an empty shell but hopefully doing things was enough that this time period won’t traumatize them for the rest of their lives.

Everett was pretty cranky, as he is most of his life, so I gave him this basket filled with crackers to play with. It helped momentarily.

Everett was excited about the fries! I’d also had the salad bar option and he ate two huge servings of potato salad!

Sierra’s Salt Dough Art

Sierra learned about tropical fruit in one of her lessons. She chose to research papaya and then I taught her how to make salt dough so she could make a papaya and paint it after it baked and cooled.

Ember and Everett couldn’t stay away from the kitchen. They saw Sierra grab a measuring cup out of the drawer and decided it would be the best idea to take every measuring cup (and other utensil) out of the drawer. They’re really helpful like that.

Payson played with some of the dough for a bit.

Sierra had lots of dough left over so she made a pig, too. Don’t ask me why she made a pig- she just felt like it!

The finished papaya! I think it turned out well. We need to coat it with Mod Podge before she can take it up to her room.

Random last picture is of Everett asleep after we went and picked up Brooklyn from school. He often falls asleep on our drive to the school and I lay him on the recliner to nap for a bit.

Outside

The kids were playing a hide and seek game in the dark in Sierra’s room one day and all the sudden Payson comes downstairs screaming crying. He told me he crawled right into the metal frame of Sierra’s bed. His cheek was already red and I knew he’d have a serious bruise. Sure enough over the next two days it got darker and more discolored. Yikes! Thankfully the pain didn’t last as long as the bruise did!

Before it faded away forever I took him outside to photograph it. It didn’t turn out well, the bright light of day hid a lot of it in photos but, he sure did look cute anyway!

You can try and try to not laugh at your mom’s jokes, Payson, but I know you and what makes you laugh, you might as well stop trying to keep a serious face. lol

I bought Ember a new outfit for her upcoming 5th birthday. She tried it on and loved it and so I snapped some pictures while we were outside.

Me and my baby kitty ♥

Everett sat by me and looked around the world and sucked on his thumb. He doesn’t suck his thumb, he just did for a minute while vegging out on this particular day.

In this photo you can see how his fingers on his right hand are curved so much they face each other at the tips. I love his fingers. I hope he isn’t bothered by them when he’s older.

Then we blew bubbles! I put the camera away for the rest of the time. Bubbles are too fun to spend time photographing 😉 haha

Eric and Jeena Come to Visit!

Jeena’s due October 30th with her first baby. She and Eric decided to take a babymoon to our area and stay in a resort. One of the days they were here they stayed with us. Lucky us!

I cleaned the house up before they came. I am not usually so picky about the house being super clean but for the first visit by someone, I want it really clean! I swept and mopped all the floors and when lunch time rolled around I fed everyone outside! No crumbs on this floor, people. lol!

Everett is really shy. Really, really shy. When people are around who aren’t a part of his immediate family he just quietly sits in my or Allan’s arms. He was so shy this day that he just leaned on Allan’s shoulder and fell asleep while we were talking to Eric and Jeena!

We all went to get ice cream at Shenanigan’s. We were slightly bummed that they didn’t have strawberry cheesecake or brownie ice cream flavors this time but they did have huckleberry, birthday cake, and pumpkin pie so that was good! Ember stuck with what she typically sticks with- chocolate!

We walked over to the marina. Stopping to see Mudgie and Millie at the insistence of the kids.

How beautiful was the lake that evening?!

Heading over to the marina!

Jeena and Eric were taking that dinner cruise the next night so we got a picture of them on the chair. Clearly Payson and Ember decided they needed a niece and nephew to join in 😛

I took a few pictures of Eric and Jeena with Jeena’s camera so I don’t have many of them but I have this that Jeena took of Allan and me!

We went the right way around the marina this time and crossed a bridge. It was nice to look out over the lake. It was busy that day so a lot of people had to squeeze by (it’s a narrow bridge!) but it was still fun!

The next day we got to prepare some of the delicious, and huge, veggies Jeena brought from their garden!! We made some typical foods and we also made zucchini bread for the first time! It was delicious!!

Jeena works at a dentist office and brought the kids each a new toothbrush. I don’t even know if she knew how much my kids like toothbrushes but they were about as thrilled as if she’d brought them a puppy! haha! Everett carried his around for days! In fact, this last weekend when we were leaving on the road trip he was really upset when I took the toothbrush from him to leave home! I could’ve brought it but, I didn’t want it to get lost on the trip!
Oh and yes, sometimes he brushes his hair with it!

Thanks for coming to visit us Eric and Jeena!
