The Book Fair

Overpriced. But it’s all for the experience, right?
I let each kid pick something out. I tell them under $5. I make an exception for *Sierra who gets a pack of 6 unicorn books for $19.99.
*Brooke gets new books more often than everyone else so that’s why Sierra got “more” this time 🙂 photo 016eresized_zps200ccb88.jpg

From Two Weeks Ago.

I decided I’d slowly catch back up on blogging. Mostly because I don’t feel like taking pictures this week and I already have a boatload of pictures on photobucket so… might as well use that instead of just not blogging at all!

Payson brought home a giant bag and binder from school. It’s the show and tell bag and they have to write clues to read to the class about what toy they brought in the bag. Payson had been talking about the show and tell bag for weeks and was so excited to bring elephant to school to show his class. I love that his teacher insists on not helping kids sound out words when they’re given writing assignments. Here are Payson’s clues he came up with to help his class guess what was in the bag. photo 002eresized_zps9b04d02f.jpg

I went to Babies R Us with Ember and Everett to get a bumbo. I gave Ember quarters to put into this toy but it was broken. It just played music but didn’t move. Let down. photo 006eresized_zps78606366.jpg

I started potty training Ember two weeks ago. She’s fully potty trained now. This was the first time she went pee in a public bathroom and I was so proud of her! We took a cellphone picture to text daddy but then I decided to snap a picture with my big camera after we washed our hands just to document the moment. She was giving a thumbs up. (Love that she still does a thumbs up with her pointer finger, haha!) photo 030eresized_zps653da10f.jpg

We’ve done many library trips and I don’t photograph most of them anymore but I think I might start photographing and listing our books on my blog again because I love looking back at my old posts like that and remembering books we loved. photo 064eresized_zpsfd004fe5.jpg

This day I did take some pictures at the library when we went. We spend hours there! photo 071eresized_zps844d6041.jpg photo 072e2resized_zps9e5003e5.jpg photo 075eresized_zpsce89b76d.jpg photo 076bwresized_zps8ea68b53.jpg

One night while I was brushing my teeth and washing my face before bed Allan was laying with Everett in bed waiting for me. Everett fell asleep all snuggled up with him and I took a couple pictures before joining them 🙂 photo 085bwresized_zpsd015d1bd.jpg photo 086bwresized_zps40275f86.jpg

Gosh, so much more! But, for now I’m going to stop because I need to run to the store. We are SO out of food after me not grocery shopping in over a week!

Bright Stanley!

I bought this puzzle and book set at Costco. I think it was around 7 or 8 dollars. It’s so awesome! It comes with a book and then you do the puzzle and then on the back of the puzzle is the same image as the front of the puzzle but without color so your child can color it in themselves! It’s super awesome. Ember and I had a blast with this last Tuesday! photo 020eresized_zps0b3692e4.jpg photo 028eresized_zpsad85fdf9.jpg

Ember isn’t a child who usually colors on furniture or walls or anything but for some reason she did this morning. She colored all over her little table with markers. I really hate that. I’m sure we all hate that, though! I meant to have her clean it up (she did clean it the next day) but never got around to it. photo 030eresized_zps7b5c332f.jpg photo 031eresized_zps7d06f58c.jpg photo 035eresized_zps077b172a.jpg

Later in the day she did her makeup while I was doing mine, before picking the kids up from school. photo 078eresized_zpsdf18f18e.jpg photo 127eresized_zps9c8b3ef3.jpg

Hyper Kids on Errands!!

Getting Everett ready for three errands that need to get done today! photo 006eresized_zps2e152221.jpg

Ah-ah-ah-ACHOO!! photo 010eresized_zpsc3ed99fe.jpg

Carrying around the carseat while it’s snowing is a pain in the bum. I finally went to Babies R Us and bought one of those carseat stroller thingies. It’s a stroller base you put your carseat in. photo 043eresized_zps5bd14a11.jpg

We went to Costco to get gluten-free tortillas for Payson. We got lunch while we were there. photo 047eresized_zps0ae5340a.jpg

Sometimes the cheese on Ember’s pizza starts falling off so I cut her slice into bite sized pieces for ease. photo 049eresized_zps52e11399.jpg photo 051eresized_zpse9178a87.jpg photo 055eresized_zps9c3a428a.jpg

My kids were in good moods. Probably from all the free samples and lunch… my kids like eating junk. photo 069eresized_zps1788db82.jpg photo 077eresized_zpsdc017d08.jpg

This next picture sums up Brooklyn’s personality really well. photo 087eresized_zps5aec0324.jpg photo 089eresized_zps88d236b1.jpg photo 095eresized_zps0cbb0f82.jpg

I took a short video of them and Brooklyn did something silly (as always) and was CRACKING up laughing at herself. She could barely breathe she was laughing so hard at her video. She always finds herself amusing. lol
So I decided to document them watching themselves. photo 113eresized_zps27f6db48.jpg photo 140eresized_zpsa670c51a.jpg photo 141eresized_zpsd177314c.jpg

Everett was still sleeping in his carseat (hallelujah) so we stopped to get Payson a haircut! photo 152eresized_zps5d2a0af7.jpg photo 160eresized_zpsef670ff9.jpg

His very first haircut at a barber shop type place!! photo 165e2resized_zpsde862a0a.jpg

I wanted to get a picture of his haircut after… the other kids joined in. photo 181eresized_zps30d89761.jpg photo 183eresized_zpsa1793781.jpg photo 189eresized_zps6957f505.jpg photo 191eresized_zps35af6afa.jpg

Before heading home they threw some snowballs. photo 202eresized_zps2f8004df.jpg photo 206eresized_zps724599f9.jpg photo 209eresized_zpsfdd82363.jpg photo 214eresized_zps22085065.jpg

We got home three hours after we’d left which is amazing for all the errands we ran! By this time Everett was pretty pissed that he wasn’t getting milk right then. He usually goes for about two minutes before wanting to drink again, not three hours 😉 photo 219eresized_zpsdbf5e0c8.jpg

After breastfeeding he was happy! He was smiling at me nonstop and it was so dang cute! After a while Brooklyn asked if she could hold him. I grabbed the camera and talked to him while she held him and he smiled a lot more. photo 268eresized_zps60bc6d3d.jpg photo 290eresized_zps45e7db77.jpg

After a bath I snapped a picture of Payson’s new haircut. He insisted on sitting on the ground in front of this door for the photo. photo 362eresized_zpsab35930e.jpg

Later in the evening after we’d read books together I had breastfed Everett and set him in his carseat. Payson came in with a book to read to Everett. It was so sweet. I should’ve filmed it instead of photographed it! photo 371eresized_zpsdf85dcea.jpg photo 383eresized_zpsdc9ada1b.jpg

Sick House. Sick, Sick, House

We’re so sick. Every single family member. The antibiotics are kicking strep’s butt so that’s great. But buddy buddy with strep came along a really awful cold virus. It’s been awful. Really awful. I won’t bother complaining about the specifics because everyone has been sick and knows how badly it sucks!

Allan couldn’t go shopping for me one week so I waited until the kids had been on antibiotics for 72 hours to go shopping. We were desperate for some fresh food by that day!! photo 002eresized_zps5c8a89b9.jpg

My kids bring their toys into the family room every day. I’ve told them to keep their toys in the playroom or their bedrooms practically daily but still they bring out boxes and boxes of toys to play with! While sick I’ve given up and accepted that my family room will look like a disaster until we’re healthy again. Ember playing with toys instead of crawling all over me while whining or crying is a big relief so the mess is a small price to pay for quiet happiness! photo 064resized_zps557aba0a.jpg

Trying to get some fresh air in the evening. We’ve been cooped up in the house too long! photo 211eresized_zps0ab02b61.jpg photo 217eresized_zpsfb40e4bd.jpg photo 223eresized_zps33cfaa5f.jpg photo 244eresized_zps020ee308.jpg photo 253eresized_zps258c1c5e.jpg photo 259eresized_zps368c35c7.jpg

My voice went away three days into my cold. I’ve been trying to have lots of reading time with the kids but couldn’t that day. Allan took over bedtime story time 🙂 photo 004bwresized_zps9efc494f.jpg

I hate that when I’m pregnant I wake up SO hungry. Like I need to throw up if I don’t eat because my stomach hurts so bad! And nothing sounds good except for protein. This particular morning I made myself eat fruit along with my egg and (delicious chicken, apple) sausage to help my body get a boost of vitamins to combat the virus currently wreaking havoc. photo 011eresized_zps5a2fdc22.jpg

While I was cooking breakfast Ember was happily playing with her toys. photo 017eresized_zpsdfb43d89.jpg

We spend a lot of time lounging on the couch together these days. I like to cuddle and be with my baby girl but we’re sick to death of being stuck inside! photo 030eresized_zps64936794.jpg

Just to show that I’m not lying when I say my family room is pretty much always messy these days… photo 042resized_zpsb937cfc3.jpg

Ember was asking to breastfeed when I took this next one. (I hate breastfeeding. HATE. So painful and aggravating and she wants to nurse all the live long day! I usually say no.) photo 034eresized_zps00174900.jpg

My belly is getting huge. Grossly huge. photo 038eresized_zps1259edc4.jpg

I’m not quite ready to have another child to take care of but I’m so done with being pregnant. Too bad it’s not November already. Hopefully the next month and a half goes by really fast! photo 063eresized_zpsf253d22d.jpg

Four Kids at Costco

I wasn’t intending to take pictures at Costco because I already have so many there. But Ember insisted on bringing her toy puppy to Costco (despite my trying to convince her otherwise) and then insisted the puppy “walk” everywhere. It was challenging, but adorable. It was so busy at Costco, I was constantly leading her to open areas so she wasn’t in the way, that was a stressful addition to the already stressful task of shopping at Costco with four kids! photo 010eresized_zps701b32e9.jpg

We mostly stopped at Costco to print a few pictures for some About Me posters the kids got at the library. While I uploaded the pictures to be printed, they watched Daniel Tiger on the giant TVs. photo 007eresized_zps9ec0180e.jpg

We ate lunch there since it’s so cheap. Then we went and I was sorely tempted by the book section. And I caved to the temptation and yes, maybe I spent too much money on books. It’s challenging to have four kids because you buy one a book (or small set of books) and you feel you must buy each a book. Am I right, moms of many? photo 011eresized_zps51c47ccf.jpg

The kids plopped on the floor right away. I told them to scoot to the side of the aisle so that people could get by. They were quite happy sitting there quietly reading. One thing is for sure, these four kids of mine LOVE books!! photo 015eresized_zps0be5bf8b.jpg

It’s working for me lately to end posts with random pictures that don’t really belong in their own post but don’t go with the current post either. haha. So, in keeping with that trend, here’s a photo of Ember playing in my bathroom as I got ready for the day. She entertains herself so well. She was singing songs and then pretending to run into the bathtub and shower and then was weighing herself. She’s such a fun little girl!

Hello Again!

You guys are sweet to worry about me. Thanks for the comments and emails.

I’m only assuming that most of you have guessed that I got pretty sick after the last post I published. The day after my last post I got the worst stomach virus of my life. Since then I’ve had a myriad of health problems sprout up and most of them aren’t things I’d enjoy blogging about. The one that kept me from blogging was a wretched case of carpal tunnel syndrome. Oh wow does that hurt!
I have been wearing a wrist brace and using ice packs to ease the pain. Allan’s been sweetly offering me nightly wrist/arm massages and thanks to his bringing me an ergonomic mousepad, I can finally blog again without pain!

I have loads and loads of pictures I want to catch up on posting here but after only three weeks it feels pretty awkward to jump back into blogging! But I think that’s exactly what I will do!

These first few pictures are some point and shoot snaps from a few days before I got sick. photo 042eresized_zps545eb6d8.jpg photo 043eresized_zps81873954.jpg photo 044eresized_zpsc731b905.jpg photo 047eresized_zpsa481f2b8.jpg photo 050eresized_zpse598c463.jpg

I’ve been letting Ember’s bangs grow out and she’s been looking like Gollum’s adorable little sister lately. photo 067eresized_zps01ab662f.jpg

These next two pictures were taken just before bedtime for the kids. They demonstrate nicely how much energy my children have. There is never a dull moment in my house. And almost never a quiet one, either. photo 074eresized_zps4b9b76f3.jpg photo 076eresized_zps9b63951c.jpg

February and March are the nice months when you live in Arizona. With the nice weather we spend as much time outside as we can. This next picture is of Ember playing hide and seek with me. photo 099eresized_zps6a297a85.jpg

She was running to hide.
 photo 113eresized_zps85d3c23c.jpg

Ember is still in love with jewelry of all kinds. She gets on kicks occasionally where she insists on wearing every single item of jewelry she can find and if you try to take a few off (like when you need to go on an errand!) she cries. I figure, they don’t really interfere with anything so why not let her wear what she wants? If she was dropping and losing them all over stores or parks all the time I’d stop letting her but she does good at keeping them on or asking me to put them in my purse when she takes them off. photo 116eresized_zps4b76baa6.jpg

We’d gone to the library. photo 152e2resized_zpsc1df82dd.jpg

The older girls and I spent a good hour putting together Valentine’s for their classes. photo 087eresized_zpse3b0e11e.jpg

I took the younger kids to Fuddruckers for lunch one day. photo 296eresized_zpsf6602861.jpg

Ember went for an onion ring. She reacted to the taste exactly how I guessed she would. photo 302eresized_zpse8e30002.jpg

She later went on to eat several of them!
 photo 322eresized_zps530b0996.jpg

We spent a few dollars on the machines in the fun room. Payson and Ember rode the airplane a few times. They’d take turns being in the driver seat. This next picture was taken when it was Ember’s turn and she was frustrated because Payson had sat down right next to her on the driver’s seat (and there’s really not room for two) and she was telling him it was “Ember’s turn!” photo 334eresized_zpsa5e88178.jpg

We got a Happy Bird stuffed animal from the claw machine game. Payson was over the moon about that! (doing his Spiderman spray as usual) photo 350eresized_zps2a39affc.jpg

Me and my baby girl. I couldn’t love this child more than I do. I’ve said it a million times but she truly lights up my life! photo 513eresized_zps5a58204b.jpg

I’ll end this super duper random post with this picture of my kids. This was taken the day after I got my stomach virus and was so ill… I gave the kids lunchables, applesauce, and milk for dinner. Based on how I could barely stand, I thought this was pretty great. So did they! photo 574eresized_zps48f50fe9.jpg

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

When she’s going through a phase of refusing all naps and not sleeping well at night either. And when I’m feeling too tired to function. Those are the times when calm, laid back experiences are the very best. Together on a soft bed. Books. Lounging with kids jumping around me. That’s what I need. That’s about all I can handle on days following sleepless nights.
Photobucket

I blogged about this cute little Hungry Caterpillar set a while back. I reposted it just for comparison. Brooklyn and Sierra were so little!
Photobucket

Ember is a new convert to The Very Hungry Caterpillar! She sat and listened to the entire book and giggled and played along. And she sat and listened to it a second time when Payson asked me to read it again!
Photobucket
Photobucket

In this next picture she was dancing. (We’d watched The Emperor’s New Groove before this and the end music was playing on repeat.)
Photobucket

It’s always a must to act out the story when the book ends. Reading through the third time Payson was the caterpillar filling himself up before turning into a butterfly.
Photobucket

This week Ember has had a huge appetite and has been eating a lot of food. She has also been wanting to breastfeed all day long. I suppose she’s just going through a major growth spurt.
Photobucket

She often has her leg over me when she nurses. She’s done that since she was a really little baby and I really love it.
Photobucket

What post would be complete without a Spiderman pose?
Photobucket

I should write about the time Payson was in his Sunday school class with three other four year old boys and they were all talking about Spiderman. I suppose I just did write about it. It was pretty funny/cute.
Photobucket

Pretend sleeping. (Payson hasn’t napped in years and Ember hasn’t napped in weeks so pretend was most definitely pretend.)
Photobucket

If I lay down and close my eyes the nap is not pretend. I’m out cold in like 3 seconds.
Photobucket

He was telling me that sometimes he dreams about puppies and then he wakes up feeling really happy! It was adorable. I freaking love my son!
