I decided I’d slowly catch back up on blogging. Mostly because I don’t feel like taking pictures this week and I already have a boatload of pictures on photobucket so… might as well use that instead of just not blogging at all!
Payson brought home a giant bag and binder from school. It’s the show and tell bag and they have to write clues to read to the class about what toy they brought in the bag. Payson had been talking about the show and tell bag for weeks and was so excited to bring elephant to school to show his class. I love that his teacher insists on not helping kids sound out words when they’re given writing assignments. Here are Payson’s clues he came up with to help his class guess what was in the bag.
I started potty training Ember two weeks ago. She’s fully potty trained now. This was the first time she went pee in a public bathroom and I was so proud of her! We took a cellphone picture to text daddy but then I decided to snap a picture with my big camera after we washed our hands just to document the moment. She was giving a thumbs up. (Love that she still does a thumbs up with her pointer finger, haha!)
We’ve done many library trips and I don’t photograph most of them anymore but I think I might start photographing and listing our books on my blog again because I love looking back at my old posts like that and remembering books we loved.
One night while I was brushing my teeth and washing my face before bed Allan was laying with Everett in bed waiting for me. Everett fell asleep all snuggled up with him and I took a couple pictures before joining them 🙂
Gosh, so much more! But, for now I’m going to stop because I need to run to the store. We are SO out of food after me not grocery shopping in over a week!
I bought this puzzle and book set at Costco. I think it was around 7 or 8 dollars. It’s so awesome! It comes with a book and then you do the puzzle and then on the back of the puzzle is the same image as the front of the puzzle but without color so your child can color it in themselves! It’s super awesome. Ember and I had a blast with this last Tuesday!
Ember isn’t a child who usually colors on furniture or walls or anything but for some reason she did this morning. She colored all over her little table with markers. I really hate that. I’m sure we all hate that, though! I meant to have her clean it up (she did clean it the next day) but never got around to it.
I took a short video of them and Brooklyn did something silly (as always) and was CRACKING up laughing at herself. She could barely breathe she was laughing so hard at her video. She always finds herself amusing. lol
So I decided to document them watching themselves.
We got home three hours after we’d left which is amazing for all the errands we ran! By this time Everett was pretty pissed that he wasn’t getting milk right then. He usually goes for about two minutes before wanting to drink again, not three hours 😉
After breastfeeding he was happy! He was smiling at me nonstop and it was so dang cute! After a while Brooklyn asked if she could hold him. I grabbed the camera and talked to him while she held him and he smiled a lot more.
Later in the evening after we’d read books together I had breastfed Everett and set him in his carseat. Payson came in with a book to read to Everett. It was so sweet. I should’ve filmed it instead of photographed it!
We’re so sick. Every single family member. The antibiotics are kicking strep’s butt so that’s great. But buddy buddy with strep came along a really awful cold virus. It’s been awful. Really awful. I won’t bother complaining about the specifics because everyone has been sick and knows how badly it sucks!
My kids bring their toys into the family room every day. I’ve told them to keep their toys in the playroom or their bedrooms practically daily but still they bring out boxes and boxes of toys to play with! While sick I’ve given up and accepted that my family room will look like a disaster until we’re healthy again. Ember playing with toys instead of crawling all over me while whining or crying is a big relief so the mess is a small price to pay for quiet happiness!
I hate that when I’m pregnant I wake up SO hungry. Like I need to throw up if I don’t eat because my stomach hurts so bad! And nothing sounds good except for protein. This particular morning I made myself eat fruit along with my egg and (delicious chicken, apple) sausage to help my body get a boost of vitamins to combat the virus currently wreaking havoc.
I wasn’t intending to take pictures at Costco because I already have so many there. But Ember insisted on bringing her toy puppy to Costco (despite my trying to convince her otherwise) and then insisted the puppy “walk” everywhere. It was challenging, but adorable. It was so busy at Costco, I was constantly leading her to open areas so she wasn’t in the way, that was a stressful addition to the already stressful task of shopping at Costco with four kids!
We ate lunch there since it’s so cheap. Then we went and I was sorely tempted by the book section. And I caved to the temptation and yes, maybe I spent too much money on books. It’s challenging to have four kids because you buy one a book (or small set of books) and you feel you must buy each a book. Am I right, moms of many?
The kids plopped on the floor right away. I told them to scoot to the side of the aisle so that people could get by. They were quite happy sitting there quietly reading. One thing is for sure, these four kids of mine LOVE books!!
It’s working for me lately to end posts with random pictures that don’t really belong in their own post but don’t go with the current post either. haha. So, in keeping with that trend, here’s a photo of Ember playing in my bathroom as I got ready for the day. She entertains herself so well. She was singing songs and then pretending to run into the bathtub and shower and then was weighing herself. She’s such a fun little girl!
You guys are sweet to worry about me. Thanks for the comments and emails.
I’m only assuming that most of you have guessed that I got pretty sick after the last post I published. The day after my last post I got the worst stomach virus of my life. Since then I’ve had a myriad of health problems sprout up and most of them aren’t things I’d enjoy blogging about. The one that kept me from blogging was a wretched case of carpal tunnel syndrome. Oh wow does that hurt!
I have been wearing a wrist brace and using ice packs to ease the pain. Allan’s been sweetly offering me nightly wrist/arm massages and thanks to his bringing me an ergonomic mousepad, I can finally blog again without pain!
I have loads and loads of pictures I want to catch up on posting here but after only three weeks it feels pretty awkward to jump back into blogging! But I think that’s exactly what I will do!
These next two pictures were taken just before bedtime for the kids. They demonstrate nicely how much energy my children have. There is never a dull moment in my house. And almost never a quiet one, either.
Ember is still in love with jewelry of all kinds. She gets on kicks occasionally where she insists on wearing every single item of jewelry she can find and if you try to take a few off (like when you need to go on an errand!) she cries. I figure, they don’t really interfere with anything so why not let her wear what she wants? If she was dropping and losing them all over stores or parks all the time I’d stop letting her but she does good at keeping them on or asking me to put them in my purse when she takes them off.
We spent a few dollars on the machines in the fun room. Payson and Ember rode the airplane a few times. They’d take turns being in the driver seat. This next picture was taken when it was Ember’s turn and she was frustrated because Payson had sat down right next to her on the driver’s seat (and there’s really not room for two) and she was telling him it was “Ember’s turn!”
I’ll end this super duper random post with this picture of my kids. This was taken the day after I got my stomach virus and was so ill… I gave the kids lunchables, applesauce, and milk for dinner. Based on how I could barely stand, I thought this was pretty great. So did they!
When she’s going through a phase of refusing all naps and not sleeping well at night either. And when I’m feeling too tired to function. Those are the times when calm, laid back experiences are the very best. Together on a soft bed. Books. Lounging with kids jumping around me. That’s what I need. That’s about all I can handle on days following sleepless nights.
I blogged about this cute little Hungry Caterpillar set a while back. I reposted it just for comparison. Brooklyn and Sierra were so little!
Ember is a new convert to The Very Hungry Caterpillar! She sat and listened to the entire book and giggled and played along. And she sat and listened to it a second time when Payson asked me to read it again!
I should write about the time Payson was in his Sunday school class with three other four year old boys and they were all talking about Spiderman. I suppose I just did write about it. It was pretty funny/cute.
