Homeschool Materials Start to Arrive!!

This year of homeschooling I’m taking a completely different approach. I’m taking the easiest way possible. I’m taking the way that will really impact my kids, too! I want them to have real emotions while learning about real things. It’s not going to be all about fun and games, though we will have lots of that. It’s going to be a lot of reading, a lot of reading good quality literature. Add in some math and language arts workbooks and we’re good to go this year!

My main sources for the year are Sonlight cores B and C, Beautiful Feet Books geography through literature, and Horizons math. We have and are using LifePac language arts but hate it (so so much) so I’m looking for something else. I really don’t want to put together a language arts program myself so finding something where everything is included is crucial, crucial. Any suggestions welcome!
For Ember I’m doing the typical Ariana thing and reading her a bazillion good books. I like Five in a Row just for a book list for the simplest way to go. Sonlight’s preschool cores have amazing book lists, too! photo 060eresizeds_zpse3493bcf.jpg

I think this was the first package of three that we ended up receiving. photo 062e2resized_zpsb9b87cf1.jpg photo 064eresized_zpsf7dbd2b3.jpg photo 069eresized_zpsef8779bd.jpg photo 131eresized_zps3721406b.jpg

We started reading and discussing the books right away! photo 002eresized_zps21a50a93.jpg photo 006eresized_zps5782994b.jpg

And Ember was busy at work copying all the Halloween words she could think of to tell me to write. photo 011eresized_zpsd1a9b76b.jpg

And when he wasn’t on my lap, Everett was just playing around us as we read and learned. photo 017eresized_zpsc7284762.jpg

  • Christian Light Education has everything included in their language arts workbooks, and they're easy to use. (The Sunrise edition, the old ones are Lifepacs.) I've never used Lifepacs, but have heard that CLE is much, much better!

I was so excited to see your blog pop up in my reader again. I didn't feel like I knew you well enough to ask to be an invited reader when you closed your blog, and I've really missed reading it. I stopped blogging so don't really have a way to get to know other bloggers, but I have 5 kids and homeschool and live in TX. I started my family young too and have always been able to identify with so much that you write about. So, Hi, I'm Nicole. 🙂

  • Hi Nicole and thank you for the CLE tip! I will look into that when we get back in town!! (We're going out of state for Thanksgiving and internet on my Wal-Mart phone is kinda poopy. haha)

It's too bad you don't blog, another mom of 5 homeschooling… it'd be fun to connect!
    Do you instagram?
