Originally I’d scheduled Ember’s four year well child check and for Everett to get vaccinations. When the time for the checkup rolled around they said that since Ember got a checkup when she was 3 years and 3 months old (instead of 3 years exactly) that it wouldn’t be covered under insurance for her to get another well child checkup until she is 4 years 3 months old. Okaaaay, well darn. What do we do as I’m sitting there in the office? We decided to quickly change the appointment to be for Everett’s 10 month checkup instead and Ember could just get vaccinations!
So we did that and unfortunately I can’t remember Everett’s weight or height! haha… 5th baby problems, I never remember his stats! I know he was like an ounce from 18 pounds or maybe like 17.7 lbs? Something like that.
Waiting for the doctor:
I’d normally narrow this next batch of photos down to one but I love that you can clearly see Ember and Everett’s relationship in this series. She’s all over him and he wants to get away and just dive off that table pretty much.
And after the checkup it was time for vaccinations! Everett cried his poor little heart out… way more than I was expecting him to cry. He seemed so sad, like his feelings were hurt even more than his legs. Poor baby. And then Ember… she was SO brave! Last time she got shots 9 months ago she fuh-reaked out! She was terrified and fought and screamed no and then cried a lot. This time she was scared but I’d talked to her so much about it so she was very prepared and when it came time for shots she handled them SO well! She cried just after getting them for a second or two but would stop right away. And she didn’t fight the second or third shot! I thought the first would traumatize her so much she’d fight us on the rest but not at all!! It was such a relief! I told her beforehand that she could pick out a treat for a dollar per shot after. She ended up getting three shots so I let her spend $3 at Wal-Mart. She picked out a Halloween kitty toy that was $2.97.
(For memory’s sake, the whole reason I went to Wal-Mart is I needed to buy baby tylenol for if Everett got a fever or was not handling any pain well. And I suppose I’ll add, both kids didn’t get a fever and handled the shots perfectly! They weren’t even abnormally fussy in the slightest!)
