Because Everett might some day be a talented BYU football player I wanted to get a picture of him in his casts and BYU gear so that in the future he can talk about where he came from with his hands having syndactyly and then being an amazing football player even with that start in life and have a cool picture to go along with that story.
Yes, Allan and I think these things. haha!
SO I’d been planning this shoot for weeks but it was never a good time to go do it. This day in particular I was driving home and had ALL the stuff in my trunk ready to go for that perfect day to shoot (I was thinking the next day since it was rainy on this day I’m talking about). I spotted this field (it’s our favorite picnic spot) and had this strong impulse to just pull over and take some pictures right then and there! It wasn’t the place I’d originally intended to shoot and it wasn’t the best time of day (there was actually severe rain clouds moving in and it had just stopped raining two minutes before!) but I couldn’t shake the feeling so I stopped, set everything up super fast and snapped some hurried pictures. In the back of my mind I was thinking… well this is good because I can see at home on the computer what I like/don’t like about this set up and what to do differently tomorrow when I go take the “real” photos.
So that night was the night Ember crawled into bed with me and Everett and peed her pants! Everett’s cast got SOAKED with pee and that very day, within the hour, we were off to Denver to get his casts off! Three days early! So… those last minute, randomly shot photos of Everett in BYU gear are the only ones we have!! I would NOT have them if I hadn’t just pulled over and spent five minutes taking some pictures. As silly as it might sound to someone else who’s not huge into football like my husband is… it’s such a small blessing and joy to have these photos.
