Failed Trip!

This trip was such a failure. haha
I don’t remember the name of where we were going but there was this lake up in the mountains that was supposed to be great for fishing. We brought our fishing poles and our hopes of some great fishing. Problem was when we got there we found out that that particular lake is personal property of all the homes in the nearby area. A community lake up in the mountains or something.

So we drove a little further and found a decent stop by a creek to set up a fire and have a fun little afternoon.

The place Allan picked out to set up our fire was on the other side of the creek. There was a sturdy log laying over the creek so no problem! We all crossed over. My kids were walking back and forth over the log, for fun. When Sierra was on it she lost balance and fell into the creek. Just her leg and an entire arm. Her boot filled with water and her sweater was sopping wet. Allan set up a fire quickly since it was chilly that day and Sierra was cold… we tried to dry out her sweater and boot but it just wasn’t working. She was not a happy girl. Finally we knew there was no salvaging this outing and decided to head home. photo 067eresized_zps9f36f282.jpg photo 102eresized_zpsf948a335.jpg

Everett and Ember’s Birthday Balloons

When Ember was Everett’s age she got some balloons when we went to take her birthday portraits in the mountains. She was terrified of them! If they came near enough to her she’d cry and even if they were visible from where she was, she’d just stare at them in horror. haha. I can’t remember what the rest of my kids thought of balloons… if any of them were even around balloons at that age but Everett is the opposite of Ember. The first time his eyes laid sight on Ember’s birthday balloons they bulged out of his head and his mouth dropped open and his entire body shook. The second they seemed near enough to him he made a grab for them. After Ember’s birthday celebration we let him play with one and I’ve literally never seen him to excited about anything in his life. He sat there gripping the ribbon tightly in his hand and shaking it all around. The more noise and more crazy the balloon went the bigger his eyes and smile got. He was in heaven. Balloon heaven.

Ember’s balloons (from the dollar store!) stayed afloat for weeks! And in all that time Everett’s interest in them never waivered. They provided hours of entertainment for my baby boy.
I can’t wait until he gets his own birthday balloons in a few weeks! He’s going to be a super happy baby! photo 005eresized_zpsbbb6e772.jpg photo 018eresized_zpsd51099d6.jpg photo 049eresized_zpsd3efbd1a.jpg
You guys don’t need me to say that I watched him every time he was with the balloons, right? Clearly I’m overprotective and wouldn’t leave him alone (well, ever really!) with balloons! And even though I was literally always with him when he was playing with them I also ended up cutting the ribbon because he kept getting tangled up in it.

Late to School

We were running late to school that day. photo 126eresized_zpsbc1c8c32.jpg

Since we were late despite my best efforts I took a picture before heading into the school to sign Brooke in. photo 142eresized_zps36eac54c.jpg

Ember hurt herself on the way back to the car so we bandaged her up once home. photo 146eresized_zps24293d7c.jpg photo 154eresized_zps3b3655f4.jpg photo 158eresized_zpsb1fc2c22.jpg photo 159eresized_zps7ea80ade.jpg

Sometimes we do formal school first thing but most of the time we ease into it. We started our day off with a game of Tenzi this day. photo 168eresized_zps48359b34.jpg photo 175cloneeresized_zps97df10c0.jpg

Everett had fun watching from my lap. photo 177eresized_zps522314cf.jpg

And by watching I mean lunging for the dice. ha photo 182eresized_zpse5f019d7.jpg

Everett doesn’t crawl just yet but can get anywhere in the room he wants to by rolling. photo 189eresized_zps4a32005f.jpg photo 193eresized_zps3adb7066.jpg photo 194eresized_zps6d4946e7.jpg

I put my camera under the table set up with the timer to take these. Everett LOVES cameras so went for it. photo 195eresized_zps9931fc23.jpg

Later in the day I did a little twist do in Ember’s hair. And she took it out immediately. Thanks, Ember. photo 200eresized_zps84c63254.jpg

Costco on Sample Day!

My kids love when we go to Costco on sample day.

The very first samples we tried were these dried apple rings. Everett loved his! I thought it was a perfect snack (and bought some!) because he could just sit there sucking away at this apple. Then he got a chunk off and choked on it and that was the last of dried apple rings he got. ha photo 083eresized_zpse8335e46.jpg

We tried some gluten free brownies. We ended up buying the box mix because they were really good! photo 089eresized_zps274cbe48.jpg photo 098eresized_zpsc7975703.jpg

We tried a bunch more stuff and bought way more than I had planned to and then ate at the food court. photo 102eresized_zpsbc0b1b3f.jpg photo 109eresized_zpsf3963027.jpg

October 1st!

And played with Halloween trinkets we had laying around. I can’t remember where these teeth came from! photo 022eresized_zpse2663407.jpg

And then Sierra had an idea to make paper plate ghosts! Sierra is so fun and creative when it comes to everything! She’s really into drawing and writing and coloring awesome pictures lately. I love it. photo 052eresized_zps03d50c8c.jpg photo 053eresized_zpsad54a2c0.jpg photo 055eresized_zps0d4e3e11.jpg photo 072eresized_zpseed9129e.jpg

Allan’s Favorite Dinner

This baked teriyaki chicken (I think it’s on allrecipes) with rice and broccoli. I was out of broccoli so we had peas and corn this night. It doesn’t really matter what you put with this chicken though, the chicken is always the star. My entire family loves this one! (Well, not Ember… Ember hates baked chicken, she hates rice, and she hates peas. She ate corn. lol) photo 280eresized_zpscd7c582f.jpg

Now that we live 45 minutes from Allan’s work he gets home late again. I hate it. But it is always a joyful time when he does finally get home! photo 288eresized_zpsddd2e3e3.jpg photo 289bwresized_zpsac03ef80.jpg

This was the day after the little kids got vaccines. Ember’s chicken pox vaccine site was red and had bumps (as expected) but she also had little red bumps all over her face! I tried to take a picture but they didn’t show up at all. What is it with cameras that they can capture the tiniest zits, our pores, and every other little blemish but you want to photograph a rash or some bumps and NOPE. Invisible. haha! photo 291bwresized_zps1b04ea31.jpg

Some Little Things

When we first moved in and went to the post office for our mailbox keys they said it’d take around two weeks for them to change the locks and get new keys. Until then we put a hold on our mail and had to drive to the post office to pick things up. So we didn’t get Ember’s birthday card until a few days after her birthday even though my sister sent it plenty early enough. Ironically this was the first year in a long time that both my mom and sister sent a birthday card/present on time! And we didn’t even GET it on time because of the mail situation. Kinda funny.

Regardless, Ember was so happy to get a letter in the mail. photo blog01_zps7bccb46f.jpg

I asked her to read it and it was the cutest. I video taped that. And probably will never share. lol! I would TOTALLY share all my video clips if it didn’t take hours to upload. My computer majorly sucks with editing and uploading video clips so despite my desperate wish that I could share stuff like that I just can’t devote the time to it! photo 048eresized_zpse2ef73c8.jpg photo 050eresized_zps28955ca3.jpg

This is when the leaves were first starting to change colors in a major way here in Colorado. We spotted this empty parking lot with some fallen leaves on the grass and stopped there for just a little while. It turned out to be this totally fun little experience even though it was just a random stop to breastfeed Everett! haha photo 064eresized_zpsdf0521b7.jpg photo 081eresized_zpsc4e687f6.jpg photo 103eresized_zps67a78a47.jpg

The kids were SO excited to be able to play with leaves!! Poor desert raised children! ha photo 118eresized_zpsa130c887.jpg photo 126eresized_zps4c10c379.jpg photo 139eresized_zps7184d25e.jpg

I had about a hundred pictures of them throwing leaves! It was all fun and games until Payson spotted an earwig in a pile of leaves and screamed. There wasn’t much leaf throwing after that! haha photo 173eresized_zpsbe25753c.jpg

Everett was as content as can be sitting there and playing with the leaves and watching his siblings. photo 186eresized_zpsdd07a09d.jpg

Sierra and Ember were standing together and I loved how their boots looked side by side. These sisters ♥ photo 212eresized_zps58c6b8ad.jpg

Tasting leaves to be funny. They were gross! photo 224eresized_zps777c6a51.jpg photo 258eresized_zps5e5fd858.jpg

Pediatrician Visit

Originally I’d scheduled Ember’s four year well child check and for Everett to get vaccinations. When the time for the checkup rolled around they said that since Ember got a checkup when she was 3 years and 3 months old (instead of 3 years exactly) that it wouldn’t be covered under insurance for her to get another well child checkup until she is 4 years 3 months old. Okaaaay, well darn. What do we do as I’m sitting there in the office? We decided to quickly change the appointment to be for Everett’s 10 month checkup instead and Ember could just get vaccinations!

So we did that and unfortunately I can’t remember Everett’s weight or height! haha… 5th baby problems, I never remember his stats! I know he was like an ounce from 18 pounds or maybe like 17.7 lbs? Something like that.
Waiting for the doctor: photo 003eresized_zpsbd8a0a9b.jpg

I’d normally narrow this next batch of photos down to one but I love that you can clearly see Ember and Everett’s relationship in this series. She’s all over him and he wants to get away and just dive off that table pretty much. photo 007e2resized_zps63cd4dfa.jpg photo 008eresized_zps750a880d.jpg photo 011eresized_zps5e4cfae0.jpg photo 012eresized_zpsd8989163.jpg photo 016e2resized_zps29053e00.jpg

Sierra was the one staying close in case Everett lunged forward too much. Which is a real possibility with that baby! photo 021eresized_zps6ee4d4e3.jpg photo 023eresized_zps82cbda74.jpg photo 031eresized_zps3e6e5ec7.jpg photo 035eresized_zps3fb8a150.jpg photo 041eresized_zpsa450f3a9.jpg photo 043eresized_zpsfb30d78e.jpg photo 047eresized_zps8feeb920.jpg

And after the checkup it was time for vaccinations! Everett cried his poor little heart out… way more than I was expecting him to cry. He seemed so sad, like his feelings were hurt even more than his legs. Poor baby. And then Ember… she was SO brave! Last time she got shots 9 months ago she fuh-reaked out! She was terrified and fought and screamed no and then cried a lot. This time she was scared but I’d talked to her so much about it so she was very prepared and when it came time for shots she handled them SO well! She cried just after getting them for a second or two but would stop right away. And she didn’t fight the second or third shot! I thought the first would traumatize her so much she’d fight us on the rest but not at all!! It was such a relief! I told her beforehand that she could pick out a treat for a dollar per shot after. She ended up getting three shots so I let her spend $3 at Wal-Mart. She picked out a Halloween kitty toy that was $2.97.
(For memory’s sake, the whole reason I went to Wal-Mart is I needed to buy baby tylenol for if Everett got a fever or was not handling any pain well. And I suppose I’ll add, both kids didn’t get a fever and handled the shots perfectly! They weren’t even abnormally fussy in the slightest!) photo 053eresized_zps3d13e26f.jpg photo 062eresized_zps57ba9c35.jpg photo 068eresized_zpsb446aeb2.jpg

Once home I stripped the little ones down to diaper and undies so I could photograph their bandaids 🙂

Kevin and Jenna’s Family Photos

I took my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s family pictures. I doubt they want all their photos on my blog but I will share one because it’s so dang cute! photo 538eresized_zps08c3b6ae.jpg

It was SO dark and chilly by this time. My camera was maxed out on settings to get a shot (6400 ISO, 2.8 aperture, etc) but we wanted to try to get a shot of the boys together the first time they met. They were also both so over being outside and being cold. And then set on the ground with a stranger… Everett had wanted to be held by me this whole time too so I finally pick him up and promptly set him on the cold ground with some kid he doesn’t know? He had NONE of that. haha! Poor babies! photo 746eresized_zpsd56ff651.jpg
