Independence Day!

We had a really good 4th of July! Our first 4th of July with weather under 100 degrees!! The older girls dressed up their toys festively. photo 140eresized_zpsa9f66298.jpg photo 142eresized_zpscb1f799e.jpg

I took a couple pictures of Everett in his 4th of July onesie. photo 150eeresized_zps8f36a792.jpg

And he tangled himself in the blanket. photo 153eresized_zps1368b71c.jpg photo 155eeresized_zpsb82e21c3.jpg

I painted the girls’ nails patriotically. photo 178eresized_zps304601aa.jpg

We went over to a nearby trail to check out the giant flag mural the city painted under the bridge this last week. photo 189eresized_zpsbe824973.jpg photo 201eresized_zpsd36879f5.jpg

The kids loved climbing up there. photo 211eresized_zps87b97a49.jpg

These pictures turned out wretched because the flag, trees, and bridge were all giving different color casts and I was too lazy to try harder in photoshop to fix them! They’ll print just fine, though. photo 216eresized_zps5005824e.jpg photo 222eresized_zps4b2124dd.jpg photo 226eresized_zps899e547e.jpg photo 234e4resized_zpsf72d24b6.jpg

We went for a long walk along the trail after those photos. It was a gooooorgeous day. Gorgeous. Seriously, gorgeous. photo 238eresized_zpsfcdf35f7.jpg photo 247eresized_zpsdbb1b122.jpg

Sierra found this huge dandelion! I’ve never seen as large of a dandelion as that before! photo 264eresized_zpse2aea4d7.jpg photo 286eresized_zps07e0ad15.jpg

She was so gosh darn adorable making her wish. photo 299eresized_zps8fe39622.jpg

Everett was pretty happy for the most part but near the end of the walk he started fussing. Allan held him the last little bit. photo 307eresized_zps9bf9b892.jpg photo 317eresized_zpsc71f9a8c.jpg photo 328eresized_zpsad7f30e9.jpg photo 336eresized_zpsf8f6c421.jpg

Allan was talking about how our point and shoot camera captures pictures with such bold colors compared to dSLRs. I told him that was all in camera processing and that if I wanted I could set my dSLR’s settings to do the same. I changed some to snap a picture to show him. I told Ember to let me take her picture and this is what she did: photo 339eresized_zps7aad30c1.jpg

And then I told Allan how I don’t use those settings because I like raw images and with my camera sometimes things can look more orange than I like (I always have a problem with orange tones if I use the shade or cloudy settings on my camera, too!) so I took another to show him. This one I toned down the orange in photoshop: photo 345eresized_zpsbed29936.jpg

We let the kids play in the grassy field before leaving. photo 352eresized_zps7e720129.jpg photo 353eresized_zpsbeed76b7.jpg

It still amuses me that Everett loves grass so much! My other babies seriously hated it and would either cry, scream, or just use their abs to hold their legs up off the grass the whole time, if they could! Everett has no problem with it, with sitting in it, and loves to play with it with his hands!! So different. photo 355eresized_zps4f99807f.jpg photo 365eresized_zps782dc3f8.jpg

I realized this might be the last time he’s in grass before his surgery so went ahead and took a few syndactyly pictures of his hands by the grass, just for memory’s sake. photo 366eresized_zpsf709f808.jpg

The girls kept giving him their bead toys. He loved them. photo 370eresized_zps69393884.jpg photo 372eresized_zpsd13dda0e.jpg photo 382eresized_zpsafa721c1.jpg

Later in the day we added some blue to the kids’ hair and went to pick up a few extra fireworks at a nearby stand. I waited in the car with sleeping Ember and Everett and a blue-haired Payson. Allan took the older girls into the stand. photo 402eresized_zps56da8656.jpg

At home we had a BBQ in the backyard while waiting for night to come so we could go watch the big fireworks! photo 009eresized_zpsb9ee27a5.jpg photo 006eresized_zpsb6b19291.jpg photo 008eresized_zpsb8f6f0ca.jpg

And much later in the night we headed over a few streets away to set up on this grassy area with a great view of the fireworks being set up at a park in town. We did our little fireworks and sparklers and then waited for the firework show to start! photo 035eresized_zps5fdfa0ca.jpg photo 038eresized_zps4c8c3612.jpg photo 042eresized_zps6ce3dffc.jpg photo 048eresized_zps32cf66dc.jpg photo 050eresized_zps39e5a0aa.jpg photo 075eresized_zps1fdbabe1.jpg

And then the real fireworks started! photo 094eresized_zpsd5d99e0c.jpg photo 145eresized_zps4ab5f846.jpg

We watched those with Brooke obnoxiously yelling out random noises and words the entire time. She has a major problem with just screaming out weird sounds and random words. Finally we threatened to send her to the car (which was ten feet away) for the rest of the show if she didn’t shut up. She acted like we were cruel and unreasonable but settled down. A little :/

And that’s it!
