This morning the kids noticed it was snowing outside. We hadn’t had breakfast yet (free breakfast at the hotel until 9:30) so we hurried downstairs to eat so we could make it outside while it was still snowing. The kids were super excited to make their first snowballs and snow angels. My daughters have been talking about and wanting to make snow angels for years!
Everett was way too tired to care about where he was. He’s been staying up all night partying so he’s a pretty tired little guy. And by partying I mean crying and pooping and breastfeeding and then doing all that over and over again. It’s been a total blast, let me tell you!
There’s a fire pit out there in the courtyard that I loved! It really was super warm over there. I tried to convince the kids to hang out a bit more but they were way too into the snow to care about a fire!
After playing in the snow we went back to the hotel room and hung out for about five hours. We watched a couple rented movies and then everyone started getting crabby and I realized it was past lunchtime and I should probably get food into all these cranky people! (myself included!) I ventured out into the city to explore what businesses are even around here. I was surprised I didn’t get lost. Though looking for a specific store I kinda wish I had an iPhone or something. I majorly wanted to know where a King Sooper (grocery store here, I’d never heard of it before!) was so I could buy food! I did find one after a little while! I was super proud of myself that I found what I needed and didn’t get lost.
Before going grocery shopping we stopped at Sweet Tomatoes for lunch since I knew the kids wouldn’t make it through a shopping trip while hungry!
Sweet Tomatoes is a soup and salad buffet restaurant that I’d never heard of until I moved to Arizona. Allan’s mom took me there when I very first married Allan and I loved it! I am a major pig so buffets are right up my alley 😛
We talked about grandma while we ate since Brooklyn had gone with her to Sweet Tomatoes this summer. We felt sad because we missed her and wished she was there with us.
I told Ember to do a thumbs up if she liked this place. And so she gave it a thumbs up. (I will be so sad the day she learns how to do a real thumbs up!)
I stopped at Kohl’s to look for coats and boots for me. I didn’t find anything I liked. Well, I did like one pair of boots but they only had two sizes left in stock and neither were my size. Darn it. I am the only one in the family without warm clothes and while I don’t really mind that much it would be nice to have a coat when it’s snowing. ha
Anyway, we got back to the car and it had been snowing while we were inside and the kids (especially Ember) were cracking up at the snow on our car. Having kids who’ve never experienced snow is amusing. The things I would never think twice about are super surprising and funny to them.
We finally made it to King Sooper’s. The kids said it reminded them of Basha’s and Fry’s in Arizona.
I was surprised when Everett wasn’t crying in his carseat and was awake. That never happens! I thought maybe he was just enjoying all the new sights and sounds of a store. Or at least was stunned into silence by it all. lol
But about twenty seconds into the trip he was screaming. He isn’t the most happy baby. I put him in the ergo but he wasn’t really happy in there, either. But he cried less in there than he would’ve in the carseat.
