Doctor Appointments!

I picked the kids up from school an hour and a half early today for a vaccination appointment Payson had. I had to pick all three up early since I wouldn’t have made it home to get the girls from the bus.
I delayed Payson’s vaccinations when he was a baby because of all his health stuff and started getting his shots on a more spaced out time frame when he was 2 1/2. So he has two more shots (total) and he’ll be fully immunized!

Today was his third hep B (next month is his last) and then he has one more dtap (I think!) but the doctor says he has to wait until January for that one. And then he’s done!!

Payson was not excited about getting a shot (though both his big sisters LOVE having them done!) and was relieved to hear it was only one. Last time we went (a month ago) it was four shots! photo 003eresized_zps72002a13.jpg

He was funny immediately hopping up on the table and then laying down for the exam he thought he was having. (The appointment was with the nurse only and only for a shot.) photo 008eresized_zps1fba0e1b.jpg photo 010eresized_zps9852d6e5.jpg

In the waiting room Brooklyn had been trying to get Ember to sit on her lap but Ember had refused, wanting to stay with mommy or on mommy’s lap. In the exam room Brooklyn asked her again if she wanted to sit on her lap and when Ember said yes she was pretty happy about it. photo 013eresized_zps9dac52ad.jpg photo 014eresized_zpsa4089b29.jpg

Payson goofed off until the nurse came in. And he did really well with his shot. It took a split second and he laughed about how nervous he’d been since it was over before he’d realized it’d begun! photo 018eresized_zps151113e2.jpg

I had a OBGYN appointment next. The kids, Payson mostly, were bouncing off the walls and loud and it was really annoying! I was having a hard time talking to my doctor and it was an important conversation! I’m glad that the rest of my appointments are when the kids are in school! photo 023eresized_zps09372bd7.jpg

These were taken when we’d just got into the room. Payson pretty much refused to sit still on the bench the rest of the time no matter what I said! (Ember was digging through my purse for a lollipop, I didn’t have any left) photo 028eresized_zps8d0151b4.jpg

Next we went to Fry’s grocery store because we were seriously OUT of food. We needed stuff for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks!! Our fridge was bare and our pantry had only a few random things like tortilla chips and boxed mac and cheese. photo 030eresized_zpsb474eb55.jpg

The kids were actually pretty decent in the store, thank goodness! I did NOT want to shop (I was like, fall to the floor tired!) and if they’d have been acting up (like they usually do) I think I would have been… more tired. haha photo 032eresized_zpse3e72678.jpg photo 033eresized_zps6d8148ff.jpg photo 036eresized_zps6db02d31.jpg

I was going to take just that one group shot of us a few pictures up but the kids insisted on taking a dozen more silly shots. They were in good moods! photo 040eresized_zpsd4b00b2f.jpg photo 041eresized_zpsa6ef7c42.jpg photo 051eresized_zpseca92a98.jpg photo 052eresized_zps810cee41.jpg photo 054eresized_zps37ed8e4d.jpg

Flying to Washington for Jeena’s Wedding

I think this was Ember’s third time flying since she was born. We went to Washington for a visit when she was 4 months old. We went to Texas for my BIL’s wedding when she was almost one. And then this time!

She didn’t remember her other flights so it was all a brand new experience for her. Leading up to the flight when I’d tell her about it I could tell she didn’t quite believe me that we were actually going to go on an airplane way up high in the sky. photo 001eresized_zps96a07b26.jpg

The day of she was talking about it all morning. She kept talking about our airplane and how we’d “fly, fly, fly, up, up, up, high in the clouds.” photo 006eresized_zpsaf36c21c.jpg

When I pointed out our airplane through the window it got more real and she was jumping up and down talking about it. It was fun for me to watch her so excited! photo 010eresized_zps4d7290ac.jpg

Near out gate there was this little play area for little kids. There were three little girls playing there when we first arrived and Ember wouldn’t go near it until they left. She was feeling extra shy that day with so many strangers talking to her throughout the airport! photo 009eresized_zps85807de3.jpg

Once the little girls left for their flight she ran over to play, stopping only to make sure I was right behind her! photo 012eresized_zpsdbdeb46b.jpg

I was bummed to find out we didn’t get a window seat. I wanted her to be able to watch as we lifted off and then see the clouds. From her seat in the middle of the row (I was on the aisle) she couldn’t see out the window at all 🙁
That didn’t stop her excitement, though! She was really happy about buckling her seat belt, most especially about buckling her baby in!
 photo 015eresized_zps436f8098.jpg photo 017eresized_zpsec02c8e8.jpg

On the flight she was really well behaved. We played with her toys (her baby doll and some my little ponies), she colored and played with stickers. She played with her wallet with some old store cards I kept for her, and some coins. She played with the iPod a teensy bit but mostly she just wanted to play with her tray table, seat belt, the books in the pocket of the seat in front of her, and everything else on the plane. The seat belt was her very favorite and since the captain said there was going to be turbulence (there was literally none) the seat belt sign was on almost the entire flight and she was forced to keep it on. That’s the only part she didn’t love but besides simply taking it on and off fifty bazillion times, she didn’t throw a fit or whine about it or anything. photo IMG_5537eresized_zps02eff08d.jpg

The flight was relatively short and soon we found ourselves in the much-more-confusing airport in Seattle!
I finally figured out that I had to take an elevator to the subway. photo 020eresized_zps042caa7c.jpg

And then another elevator. photo 023eresized_zps4eece14d.jpg

I had some trouble getting in touch with my mom since she was in her car and in Washington you can’t talk on your cell phone while driving. We’d text each other but she didn’t check her phone often so there was a lot of standing around waiting for communication. It turns out in the end she had gone to departures to pick us up and I was at the arrivals pickup place. She drove around to where I was and about an hour after the plane landed we were together!

We rushed over to Jeena’s venue for the rehearsal. It went well, Ember was super shy from basically nonstop meeting of strangers at this point. But she did really well.
We went to my dad’s restaurant in Arlington for a group dinner. That was fun.
Lots of other stuff happened but I’m getting tired of writing so I’m skipping forward to the morning of Jeena’s wedding! (Friday) photo 026eresized_zps2f94b142.jpg

I took that picture to remind myself to write down in her scrapbook about how when we got back to the bedroom we were staying in she looked panicked toward the door and anxiously told me, “Shut the door, mommy! Don’t let them see my bum!!”

I don’t have hardly any pictures of the wedding day since I was my sister’s maid of honor and pretty occupied! haha
My mom did snap this of me comforting Ember in the afternoon. Ember handled things so well for as shy as she is but I could tell she was reaching her breaking point. Some mommy time (we took a five minute walk alone together outside) really helped her feel more secure! She didn’t really leave my side most of the day (she was pretty helpful, too!) but just having so many new people talking to her was getting overwhelming. photo 028eresized_zpsee92cf98.jpg photo 029eresized_zps414e8e8c.jpg photo 031eresized_zpsebb69b25.jpg

The iPod kept her busy for a short while. (This was when we were watching Jeena get ready!) photo 038eresized_zps9407c9b5.jpg

I’ll maybe talk more about the wedding when I have wedding pictures to share. For now I’m skipping ahead to the flight home! photo 042eresized_zpsc7a7d69c.jpg

It was a late afternoon flight and Ember was pretty hungry so we shared a McDonald’s meal. photo 049eresized_zps2bde32b1.jpg

I spotted this sign and asked Ember for a picture. She was happy as a clam because she knew we were going home to see Allan and the other kids!! photo 054ecropresized_zpscdba3930.jpg

Waiting at our gate. photo 060e2resized_zpsa70e0caf.jpg photo 074eresized_zpsadfeeed5.jpg photo 077eresized_zps0434ad62.jpg

Ember kept putting two of her chicken nuggets in front of her eyes to be silly. photo 079eresized_zps30c069e6.jpg

So then I joined her. photo 080eresized_zps24e4a4f8.jpg photo 081eresized_zps4a6b6e6b.jpg

Once we were being boarded we thought we were getting on the plane but for some reason we ended up waiting in the passageway for a while. photo 086eresized_zpsea932a0b.jpg

Ember was visibly excited to be going home. haha! photo 087eresized_zpsf07622e7.jpg

This time Ember got the window seat!!! I was SO happy about it and so was she! photo 096eresized_zps9eba8e23.jpg

Except when we got to our seats another couple was sitting in them and I told them they were ours and they acted so confused.

Then the woman of the couple sat right next to me and had her arm in MY seat space the WHOLE time!! photo 098eresized_zps2f80f22d.jpg

Ember was unaware of all of this 😉 photo IMG_5573eresized_zps060cae61.jpg

My mom had sent a HUGE suitcase full of Christmas presents with me. She’d never shipped them because for the past 8 months we’ve told her we’re moving close (which we’re still trying to do!) and shipping is expensive. Since I was there and had no bags of my own to check I took them all back with us. SO, Allan had to park and come in to get us because I couldn’t carry everything to the car myself!

He and the kids were walking toward us when I spotted them. I ran over a bit and hid with Ember (who was giggling like CRAZY because she’d caught a glimpse and was excited to jump out and surprise daddy!) and when they walked past where we were we jumped out and said, hi! Everyone was really excited to be reunited… it felt like Christmas 🙂 photo 112eresized_zps9daad577.jpg

Allan showed Ember how to hold onto the suitcase for a ride and she loved that. photo 116eresized_zps6248f8c8.jpg photo 123eresized_zps09d09b6a.jpg photo 125eresized_zps6d515231.jpg

I was 100% exhausted once we got home and ate (pizza) but the kids knew about the gifts coming so we did that before bed! photo 129eresized_zps292f2cdd.jpg

Brooklyn was cracking me up with her excited faces! haha photo 131eresized_zps616668df.jpg photo 135eresized_zpsd32f7dc0.jpg

Ember’s really obsessed with dishes, food, and anything cooking or kitchen related so all of the new play food and tea sets my mom sent were a HUGE hit. photo 136eresized_zps6dabb9eb.jpg

Sierra’s old bike helmet has never fit her so my mom had bought her a new one. photo 143eresized_zps299a4297.jpg

The girls got lipglosses and nailpolishes. photo 146eresized_zps15364ff0.jpg photo 149eresized_zps276b5f76.jpg

Allan took pictures for me while I handed out gifts. We wouldn’t have typically taken photos but of course we wanted to show grandma 😉
 photo 152eresized_zpsde13d43f.jpg

Group photo! The cutting board Allan’s holding is a gift my stepdad MADE for me. I love it so much!! It’s gorgeous and I really can’t believe how amazing it is in quality and appearance and how long it must’ve taken him! photo 157eresized_zps04a2149f.jpg

Payson posed like this and begged me to go get my camera. (I’d put it away) photo 166eresized_zps6f0c4b46.jpg

Oh and Brooklyn and Payson got birthday cards, too! They both had birthdays this summer. photo 171eresized_zps07ec36e6.jpg

Staying at Home with an Almost Three Year Old

To Ember,
Things you do at home with mom while the big kids are at school!

You and I run errands, of course. And you admire yourself and do silly faces at yourself in every mirror you find. photo 117eresized_zps93979436.jpg

You play with your toys in your bowl of cereal. And in your cup of water. Mom says not to every single time but you know better, you know what’s fun!
 photo 120eresized_zpsbb998a3f.jpg
 photo 122eresized_zps658a16fe.jpg

You love playing with play-doh. photo 139eresized_zps42747544.jpg

Mommy gives you candles and playing birthday party is super fun! photo 143eresized_zps2f84793c.jpg

You love packing your bag and bringing it with us on errands. photo 244eresized_zpsfbbafc2d.jpg

And you are constantly doing silly faces and dances and sounds.
 photo 162eresized_zps308c07a4.jpg

You get lots of cutting and gluing practice. photo 044eresized_zpsff0f1cb8.jpg

And lots and lots of painting time, too!
 photo 052eresized_zps2862f82c.jpg

You have fun taking bubble baths with mommy! Mommy is hilarious and cracks you up the whole time!
 photo IMG_5271_zps2798afef.jpg

You like coloring outside with chalk early in the morning. (before it gets over 100 degrees!) photo 092e2resized_zps5cc294f8.jpg

And then pretending the chalk pieces are members of a family. Because everything can (and will) be made into a mommy and baby pair when you’re holding them! photo 098eresized_zps4de1c5f5.jpg

A huge favorite of yours is reading books. And also putting them away. You love cleaning! (Awesome) photo 103eresized_zps689a18ad.jpg

Your favorites this week! photo 106eresized_zpseed7675d.jpg

You’re obsessed with babies. You bring a baby with us everywhere and you play with all your many, many baby dolls at home all the time! photo IMG_5192_zps2698c006.jpg

You get to go on lunch dates with mommy! photo IMG_5145_zps25579c74.jpg

You love to play with mommy’s makeup.
 photo IMG_5063e_zps0c616a16.jpg

You LOVE to take pictures with the iPod with mommy. You bring me the iPod daily and I hold it up and you push the button to take our picture.
 photo IMG_5046_zps44e12033.jpg

You ask for mommy milty (milky) when you’re sleepy. I tell you stories every time you nurse these days. You LOVE hearing made up stories. You’ll request “I want another story” as soon as one ends.
 photo IMG_4982e_zps85860cfe.jpg
Other things you do every day that I didn’t take pictures of this week:
-Puzzles!!!! Puzzles, puzzles, and more puzzles
-Wash your hands in the bathroom all the time (your hands aren’t dirty)
-Wipe your nose over and over and put a bunch of toilet paper in the toilet (you’re not sick)
-Push a chair (or anything else you can) up to the counters/in the pantry/to the cupboards to get into stuff (food) you’re not supposed to
-Make messes with your food and drinks, every meal
-Take your clothes off
-Play really nicely by yourself, creating the cutest games and adventures with your toys 🙂
-Watch some TV or Netflix (faves: Dora, Team Umizoomi, Busy Town)
-Color, color, color, color, color, and color a lot more!
And really so many other things it’s crazy. You really make the most of your life! And I just love being a part of it 🙂

Having Fun at Home

Friday Ember and I stayed home. We didn’t want to spread her sickness around the town!

We did a lot of things together- read books, painted, colored, danced, and played with her baby dolls. We also spent quite some time playing around in her and Sierra’s room. photo 077eresized_zpsaf8ba95f.jpg photo 092eresized_zps279b0f02.jpg photo 140eresized_zps2b82ddfd.jpg photo 170eresized_zps30429d4d.jpg photo 229eresized_zps6428c45a.jpg photo 231eresized_zps36f9c620.jpg photo 270eresized_zpsded5d1f8.jpg photo 293eresized_zps2893e9da.jpg photo 304e2resized_zps00ccb246.jpg photo 317eresized_zps27f2a13a.jpg photo 334eresized_zps25bc0b77.jpg photo 336eresized_zps7ad8ba95.jpg photo 341eresized_zps814005fa.jpg

She was hamming it up for the camera that afternoon!
And right after that last picture was taken my camera decided to break. Just stopped focusing without warning. So I guess I’m going to a repair shop later this week and hopefully they’re able to fix it right up. I have a bazillion things I’m going to need to photograph this month (like, I’m going to my sister’s wedding next week!) and I’d be pretty sad if I couldn’t take pictures!

Over Shooter!

I vowed this year was THE year I’d catch up on my family’s albums and so far I’m doing AAAAAMAZING at keeping up with THIS week. lol! Just this week so far.

I just spent an hour sorting through pictures from January of this year to at least try to catch up on 2013 but it is SOOO hard for me to not print every single photo!! haha!

My huge goal is ONE photo per day PER kid. NO MORE. I don’t want to send my kids off into their lives with 50 full scrapbooks! photo Untitled-1_zps72e61514.jpg
Problem is, I can’t narrow it down! I will narrow it down, but man oh man is it difficult!

Pink Eyed Ember

Yesterday Ember was rubbing her eyes and crying. I asked if her if her eyes hurt. She said yes and I said, “I’m sorry baby, you’re getting pink eye.”
She looked at me and thought about that for a second. Then she said, “I don’t want pink eyes…” and added sadly, “I want purple eyes.” photo 009eresized2_zpsb5c09f1f.jpg

Pretend Sleeping

Last night the kids and I were eating dinner (Allan got home later) and I happened to be up and down from the table to keep turning tortillas I had cooking. I usually try to sit down with the family but yesterday was the cook-a-million-tortillas night. Where I cook like two full packages and then we eat them throughout the rest of the week.

So anyhow, I came back to the table after flipping tortillas and noticed Ember wasn’t in her chair. I went to look for her and found her laying in Sierra’s bed eating her tortilla! lol. I asked her, “What are you doing in here??” And she replied, “Eating my tortilla!” As if this was all totally natural.

The other kids heard the commotion and had to join the moment. They crowded into the bed and pretended to sleep. Complete with loud snoring 😉 photo 117eresized_zpsc30d4048.jpg photo 118eresized_zpscdb234e0.jpg photo 121eresized_zps87b68ef8.jpg photo 126eresized_zps6baddb49.jpg photo 129eresized_zps70cae010.jpg

First Day of School!

I feel like there is so much to blog about that I’ll never catch up! I’ve started “scrapbooking” again (I’ll share more about that sometime) and it’s all I want to do! Blogging seems like second best now. haha! Sorry, blog!

But I did want to say the kids’ first day went perfectly. They had the BEST time and couldn’t stop talking about it all after school. Payson had a rough start yesterday but within minutes was super into school! This morning I could barely get him to eat his breakfast, he told me, “I don’t want to eat breakfast, I just want to go straight to school!”
Which, if you know Payson, is crazy! He LOVES and LIVES for food. haha!

When I left the school after dropping the kids off yesterday I may have cried for fifteen minutes straight. It was pretty embarrassing and absolutely ridiculous but I couldn’t stop! I missed my boy!
After running a quick errand with Ember, and having it be quick, I was cured of that. Life is a BAZILLION times easier now!!!

So anyway, I’ll blog more tomorrow but for now here are their first day of school photos! photo 032eresized_zps9c755664.jpg photo 029eresized_zps4bce8c11.jpg photo 027eeresized_zps394f9279.jpg photo 034eresized_zps2142de37.jpg

The Night Before Kindergarten

I don’t know what it is about Payson going to kindergarten that is getting to me this week. I didn’t feel this tremendously emotional about either of my girls going to school. Sad, missing, sure. But a complete mess? Nope!

I don’t know if it’s that he was my third baby and therefore so much more a baby than the older two. I don’t know if it was that he is my only boy (for now), or because he had so many physical issues and that made me coddle him a whole lot, I don’t know. I just know, preparing to send my little boy off to school has made me nonstop teary for the past few days.

Ever since I registered him I can barely sleep at night, thinking about him going off to school and being in someone else’s care. I just want his teacher to care about him. That’s really all I want. I also want him to have fun and love learning there like he does so much at home. I want him to make good friends and be liked by his fellow students because I know how important people are to him. Of all my kids he’s the most social, he’s the one who thrives on as much interaction with others as he can possibly get. And I just want for him to get that and for it to be good, all good and no bad.

I went shopping tonight after the kids were in bed for school lunch groceries. It was crazy weird shopping for lunches for my boy. As intense as it’s been parenting him (he’s required SO much work in his five short years!) I never really stopped to think about how I’d really feel when he actually goes to school. And it turns out, I feel really sad!! haha!

There’s no part of me that wants to keep him home, or to homeschool him, as I know he wants to go to school more than practically anything else in the world. And providing him with as much social interaction as he wants is just not a possibility for me… and, I am looking forward to spending the last trimester of this pregnancy with only one at home to worry about for a good chunk of the day! But, I am going to miss him a lot. I’m going to worry about him a lot. I’m going to smother him when he’s home a lot.

So anyway, I packed his lunch tonight to save time in the morning, and teared up the whole time. Funny cutting up fruit and crying. haha! I’m such an emotional wreck right now. I’m not ready to have this baby yet but I sure am excited for when my regular hormones return one day! haha photo 126resized_zpse051ee94.jpg photo 132resized_zpsf1b13c96.jpg

The kindergarteners have snack every day. Since Payson is allergic to gluten I have to bring a separate snack for him than the rest of the class. I hope his almonds and rice krispy treat don’t pale in comparison to what everyone else has! photo 134resized_zps1982559d.jpg

I think he’ll be most excited about the Super Mario fruit snacks I found! But also the Gatorade because my kids rarely get juice and he loves Gatorade.
Once he drinks that bottle’s worth, though, I’m refilling it with water for the rest of the year. But for day one, yay for Gatorade!

7 Hours In

We’re 7 hours into the day and it’s been pretty good. It sprinkled today which prompted the kids to play outside for the majority of the morning. I spent quite a bit of time out there, too. But the 70 degree indoor temps lured me in away from the 80 degree outdoor temps. But mostly away from the 55% humidity. Humidity is the very worst! photo 034eresized_zpsae2b9179.jpg photo 035eresized_zps450e187d.jpg
