My poor little girl has scarlet fever 🙁
Ember was sick all weekend and I finally took her to urgent care yesterday when her had-been 99 degree fever went up to 101.5 (after four days) and she broke out in a rash all over her body.
At the urgent care her temperature had gone up to 102.7 and they diagnosed her with scarlet fever.
I was shocked that my poor baby had had strep throat the last four (or so) days and I had no idea!! I’ve been with her every second of the day, most days with her in my lap, taking care of her and never once had the slightest inclination that she had a sore throat! She never complained about it! She just had a fever and was irritable in the night, but during the day she was upbeat and cheerful!
Now looking back at her crankiness at night I feel so awful for my poor baby. She must’ve had the sorest throat and been suffering so much. My heart breaks for her. All I want in the world is for her to be a healthy, happy girl and for her to have had such a painful illness for four days makes me want to cry.
She’s been peacefully sleeping (after a dose of tylenol and a dose of amoxicillin) for a couple hours. Blogging about all of this is making me want to go pick her up and snuggle her like crazy. Gosh I love that girl!! I am so thankful for antibiotics and that with them she can heal from this illness!
This first picture is of her on Sunday morning after a bath. She’d thrown up a handful of times at this point and was chilling on the couch watching TV. (At this time I still thought she had a stomach virus)
The rest of these are snaps from all throughout the day on Sunday.
Sunday evening she was feeling better. She drank a couple cups of pedialyte and kept it down. I thought she was on the mend.
The pictures below are from yesterday, Monday.
She’s had two doses of antibiotics so far and is acting totally like her old self. She hasn’t had a fever in over 12 hours, too 🙂
My oldest got Scarlett fever when she was around 5 I think. She was miserable. Thankfully after lots of antibiotics she got better quick. Hope Ember is feeling better.
Poor thing!
Don't be too hard on yourself, so hard to tell when to take them to the doctor or not! Kids can handle so much it's a difficult call!
Glad to hear she is doing better today!
