We had a great Christmas. Wow, such a good day! I wish it would’ve lasted longer!
I knew Ember would be tearing into presents like crazy while we took turns with the other kids so I wrapped up many more presents for her than the others. But, a lot of hers were things I’d bought over the last couple months and kept to wrap just for this purpose, like this: Notice her excitement, though? lol, easily pleased, that one.
I found a bunch of zoobles at the dollar store. The kids were happy about those.
Ember has these games from last Christmas, I bought her a couple more because she loves them so much.
I got this cop SUV with a cop action figure for 99 cents at Goodwill. Payson and Ember love it.
Do any of you remember these writing things from when you were younger? I loved those as a kid so bought each of my kids one from the dollar store. We’ve all been writing each other notes since they opened them.
My kids got a lot of puzzles. They LOVE puzzles. I mean, obsessed. They got really difficult ones and really easy ones too, they love them all.
I got this Elmo book for 50 cents at Goodwill. I bought probably 20 books there. This one is Ember’s favorite because it’s Elmo and it plays a bunch of sounds and songs.
My kids ate a whole lotta candy in the morning. Brooklyn and Sierra picked at their breakfast claiming they were full of candy.
Allan and I cleaned up just a bit here and there as the morning went along.
This girl loves clothes, socks included. She had the biggest grin when she opened these socks. She promptly took off the pair she was wearing to put them on. haha
Allan and I agreed to not get each other gifts this year. And both of us, without telling the other, broke the rule and got each other gifts. haha! We opened ours after the kids had opened all of theirs.
We had wrapped up a bunch of Christmas crafts I bought last year on clearance (and two I bought this year for $1) and the kids loved those. Ember and Payson especially had a good time putting together their crafts. And then Ember, like always, had just as much fun ripping it apart and sticking the pieces to other things. Like her face.
Payson is the opposite. He doesn’t want his ruined and is really protective of his crafts.
Sierra talked for months about wanting a pink Webkinz kitty. Actually since last Christmas, she’s been wanting another Webkinz. She was really particular about it being a pink kitty. She was thrilled on Christmas morning when she saw it. She didn’t need any other presents that day, she was so happy with her kitty.
I LOVE this picture. It might be my favorite of the day.
Ember was confused about our diaper dance session being interrupted by daddy with the camera. She likes having her diaper changed because I tickle her or dance with her after but she didn’t like that it meant an extra ten seconds before she was allowed to rejoin her toys in the family room! haha
I didn’t take any more pictures until dinner. We were all still in pajamas, which I think marks an ideal Christmas day 😉
Just now blogging and looking at this next picture of our dinner I was thinking about how bummed I was that the rolls weren’t ready at that time. I’d left them in the oven (warmed and then turned off) to rise more quickly but they weren’t ready by dinnertime.
So yeah sitting here blogging and remembering the rolls and how I’d left them to rise in the oven I had a moment of panic and just now got up and ran to the kitchen and opened the oven to find: I guess forgetting them in the oven overnight wasn’t good. haha!
After dinner I didn’t plan on taking any more pictures but really late at night when Sierra came out of her room crying because she knew Allan was going back to work and she’d miss him, I let her have a cookie and stay up a little later and decided to take a picture to remember that. Ember got a cookie, too.
Notice the giant tears? I was laughing and asked her, “Sierra does the cookie fix everything? Now everything is fine and you won’t miss daddy?” Which was cracking her up.
