Moving Process Starts

So we’re moving this weekend to a three bedroom apartment. We found one we like a lot. Stores, restaurants, the library, and other businesses are within walking distance or a one or two minute drive away. After living so far from the nearest anything… this is going to be total heaven.

This week I get to spend most of my days sorting. I would say packing but it’s mostly just sorting. Give away, donate, sell, keep, store… I hate sorting. I don’t mind cleaning or packing or moving but sorting… decided what stays and goes? Blah.

I’m good at sorting, I’m not by any means a hoarder (quite the opposite) but it is hard for me to let go of all of our homeschool curriculum and totally ripped up books. Even if a book is missing half its pages, it was a favorite and breaks my heart to part with it. Though I must say with books, I do rebuy them ASAP because… they’re favorites. We read our favorites every single day.

Speaking of, books and ripping, HOW do you avoid this with a toddler in the house? I go through phases of having all of the books in my bedroom stored up high but it’s terrible that the other kids can’t get to the books whenever they want. But then when I put the books on a shelf in the kids’ rooms Ember gets in there and destroys them all in like five minutes.

I have loved that lately a lot of the classics are being printed on hard board books. So awesome.

So anyway, we’re moving, I’m packing, and my kids are their usual whiny, clingy selves 😉

I have a lot of pictures from this week that I didn’t blog. Since there are way too many, even for my overshare blog, to put in one post I posted them in seperate posts below this one, if you want to go look 🙂

These pictures are all from this morning.

They’re all a little off center because I was holding the camera at my hip. Which is the way I shoot 75% of the time lately.

Oh yeah, this morning as we were reading a book Brooklyn noticed a bunny in our backyard. The three of them stood watching it for as long as it sat out there. I brought Ember over, too, and held her while we all stood there watching the bunny nibble on something in the grass.
