Improvised Slide

The other day I was remembering when Brooklyn was one year old and we bought some giant thing (I don’t remember what exactly) that came in an enormous box. I flattened the giant box and leaned it up against our couch and Brooklyn spent that week sliding down it over and over.
So when I was folding up our table the other day I randomly decided to let Ember slide down it, leaned against our window sill, for a little while.

Outside

It’s hot here now. Over 100 degrees.
The other day in the evening the temperature had dropped to the 80s or so, so I told the kids to get their shoes on and we’d play outside for a while.

Oh yeah and the kids eating outside means less sweeping for me.

Brooklyn’s Haircut

One day Brooklyn told me she wanted to cut her hair short. It came up suddenly. I said, “OK. Do you want to go to a salon and get it cut? We can make an appointment for tomorrow.” She said, “No, today!”
So I cut her hair for her.
Before.

The after.

She was thrilled with it! I think she looks adorable and it’s SO easy to do now. We pretty much just brush it for three seconds and it’s done!

It was a pretty fast haircut. I think I spent twenty minutes tops doing it and while I did the three younger kids were playing in our front room which doubles as a play room. I came out of the bathroom to this:

A box of rice krispies had been intentionally dumped out and scattered over the floor by Sierra and Payson. No worries, Ember felt like cleaning.

Or eating it, anyway.

And after sweeping up I found this in the front room. My kids are not the best sometimes.

Mother’s Day

For Mother’s Day we drove to a pretty little place to take a couple of pictures and videos of the kids to send to my mom with her gift.

Allan climbed up on the rock and Payson wanted to be just like dad.

Except he is just a bit too little to handle it.
Photobucket

So he found a stick and played with that instead.

I had to stay right on Ember the whole time because girl has no concept of safety at this age. She really wanted to climb up on this ledge which had a huge drop on the left side of this picture. You can’t tell in photos but if she would’ve dropped to the other side she would’ve died 😛

Well These Don’t Really Need a Title

The little kids playing together. Sometimes they get alone really well. Sometimes they fight like cats and dogs.

Payson doesn’t sit in a highchair, of course. But this night he really wanted to sit in Ember’s so I let him. Why not, right?

Every day Ember climbs up on our office chair and messes with the computer. She destroys a lot of stuff, that girl.

Peter Piper Pizza!

I told the kids I’d take them to some fun things this summer. Museums mostly. We’ve been to a few. I told them we could go to the Phoenix Children’s Museum but then found out it’d be $55 for us to go. Um, no thanks.
Instead we beat the heat this day by staying in the air conditioned Peter Piper Pizza playing games and of course, eating pizza.

I let Ember ride with Payson on a lot of rides. They both loved it. They fight over toys sometimes at home (most times, actually) but with rides and things we do on errands they’re inseperable 🙂

I’m not unaware that my daughter is growing up fast but when I caught site of her standing next to me in the bathroom mirror while we waited for Payson I was surprised to see how tall she has gotten compared to me!

Yes, totally fun trip.
