18 Months with the Cutest

Me and children. Cuz I’m never alone. Photobucket

Sold this on ebay. Got $10 for it. Yeah. Photobucket

Ember can reach every counter in my house. Ember uses this skill frequently. She looked surprised when the cereal splattered all over her. Photobucket

Then she was like, get this stuff off me,! Photobucket

And here I imagine she’s saying, “What a world, what a world!” Photobucket

Trying to decide if she’s happier in the tub… Photobucket

I think this is better… Photobucket

Yeeees, this is better! Photobucket

This is the best! Photobucket

I always tell her nursery rhymes and sing songs to her and stuff while she bathes. I was telling her the tiny turtle rhyme and she was doing the motions. Here she was eating the soap. Photobucket

This was on facebook. On picture day Brooklyn was sad when I wouldn’t let her go to school like this: Photobucket

I let both girls pick out their outfits (well after saying no to the one above) they’re both picky about what they wear. Brooklyn always wants to dress in the ugliest clothes she owns (seriously) and Sierra usually dresses really fancy, but for picture day she wanted her very favorite dress, this hello kitty one. Photobucket

This was the second outfit Brooklyn picked out. I just let her, what do I care really? The school pictures don’t go on our walls 😉 Photobucket

I took Ember’s 18 month pictures in our backyard. It’s not pretty but after driving out into the desert and feeling angry at the ugly scenery (I’m so so so over the desert) I decided the backyard was good enough. Photobucket

I can’t wait to live somewhere green and take some fairy pictures of Ember. I’m going through withdrawals for some nice grass and leaves! Photobucket

I had her hold her bunny again just because she’s even more in love with it now than she was before. So cute. Photobucket

You can’t tell but she wouldn’t hold still for a second so some pictures were a little blurred but so cute… this super flared editing hid the not-tack focus a bit 🙂 Photobucket

This one is my favorite: Photobucket

But this one with her cheesey smile is a close second. Photobucket

She’s the cutest. Photobucket

Cutest, cutest, cutest! Photobucket

Cute.est. Photobucket

It wasn’t very interesting out there so I played around with editing. Photobucket

Because sometimes I like way too many pictures in the same exact spot and I get sick to death of editing them. Photobucket

And yet I can’t just leave them alone. Ugh, I hate that about myself. Photobucket

But I really couldn’t leave any out… too indecisive. Photobucket

She is so beautiful. Sometimes I look at her face and can’t believe that she’s my daughter. She’s the prettiest little girl that ever was ♥♥♥ Photobucket

I had a bunch of outfits for her and was going to do a whole little session with her but she really wanted to play so I gave up. I had a million of her in that fairy outfit anyway, any more would have been over the top excessive 😛 Photobucket

Payson was out there, too. Photobucket

He was practically dying of jealousy over Ember having her pictures taken. He begged me to take some of him doing his spiderman pose. Photobucket

Which Ember thought was the best thing ever. Photobucket

So she copied him. She’s been copying him every time he does it but this is the first time I photographed it 🙂 Photobucket

PhotobucketAnd that’s really all I have to blog. The rest is journal bound, but to sum up:

All About 18 Month Old Ember Anya

She still loves to rip up paper. She will get into the girls’ backpacks and rip up their homework every single day if they don’t make sure they’re out of reach. She rips up books, notepads, anything. She can reach up onto the tall kitchen counters now which means nothing is safe. She loves books. She’ll sit down and flip through the pages baby-talk reading them to herself. She copies the tone of voice I use when I read to her. She also will pretend to pick up and eat the food from the pages. She loves to kiss people, especially babies, in books. She loves nursery rhymes and finger plays and little toddler songs. Her favorites are: Tiny Tim, Pat-a-Cake, Itsy Bitsy Spider, I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee, Little Bunny Foo Foo, Some of the hand motions she will do along are: In Tiny Tim I had a tiny turtle… she’ll immediately pretend to eat the soap because she knows that part’s coming. Pat-a-Cake: She does all the motions but her favorites are the rollllll it and then the end, baby and me! Itsy Bitsy spider: She puts her tiny little fingers together while talking along with me. SO CUTE!! Then she does the up comes the sun part, too. Little Bunny Foo Foo: She’ll point and shake her finger no no when the good fairy comes down. She loves anything with buttons. Phones, remotes, toys, my computer keyboard and mouse… anything. She still wants to nurse to sleep and still pinches me and scratches me a lot. She doesn’t sleep latched on all night anymore though! Not to say she has stopped waking me up fifty bazillion times… She smiles when you tell her to smile. It’s a really cheesy grin that I super love. I’ve always told her many times a day, “Hey Ember! I love you.” And now when I say it she says I love you back 🙂 She is a super picky eater. She only really likes meat. She’ll eat a couple bites of most things I eat (meat and potatoes girl) but hates carbs and dairy and eggs. She loves her belly button. She knows these body parts: nose, ears, forehead, belly button, feet. She knows the others most of the time but gets them mixed up, too. She LOVES shoes. She would wear shoes all day if she could. Anyone’s shoes. She’s actually pretty good at walking in big shoes, too! She spends a lot of time in the shoe closet playing with the shoes. She lights up and lunges for her shoes if she notices them and she’s barefoot. She loves DRESSES! I don’t know why or how this happened but one day I put a dress on her for church and she picked it up between her fingers and pranced around the room! It was SO FUNNY! I was laughing so much and she was just joyous, prancing around and smiling and touching the skirt… it was the cutest, funniest thing. Every time I put her in a dress or skirt she gets the hugest grin and prances around. You can tell she feels all dressed up! We didn’t make a big deal about dresses and my girls only wear them to church so it’s so funny that she’s like that. This summer her wardrobe will be all sundresses! YES! Every day when we go pick the girls up from school they get in the car and Ember reaches for them and smiling says, “hiiiii!!!” and then wants kisses from them. When Allan gets home she FREAKS out. She starts laughing and calling dada and sprinting to the door with arms outstretched. She refuses to let him put her down for a good hour. She’ll just cozy up to him and snuggle in his arms happy as a lark for the rest of the evening. She has taken to hitting Payson often during the day. We think it must be her getting fed up and deciding to get what she wants by hitting. She will hit him to get a toy or for no reason at all! Every time I tell her to say sorry and give him kisses. Which she does willingly and happily. But two seconds later she’ll hit him again, this time with a hard toy, and I’ll have to seperate them. She wears size 4 diapers and size 18 month clothes and size 4 shoes. She is 22 pounds. She has ten teeth total. She just got 6 molars last month, and two new front this week. She doesn’t say many words. She talks a lot though. I’m not worried, Payson was only saying a couple of words at this point and I got worried but by the time he turned 2 he was talking up a storm. She understands a lot of words, and the words she does say are: mama dada milk boobie (haha) hi bye I love you (it doesn’t sound like I love you, though) She loves toys. All toys. She’ll take stuffed animals or my little ponies and have them play together. She makes them walk around and talk to each other.

Keeping These Words Inside

My life is in a weird phase. Lots of difficult times have been had this year. I consider typing them out here. They end up staying in my head. Stories I’m not willing to share, feelings I bury and guard. I should visit my journal, put them there where they belong. But sometimes letting them loose opens a floodgate and I just can’t handle all that emotion spilling out right now.

Things are happening. My life is about to change a lot. We’ll be in a new home, a new state, a new life will be lived. For now, it’s limbo. This odd transition time that I desperately hate. That and lots of other things going on, life is just too much right now. I look forward to life being a more a simple chaotic. Hopefully that time comes soon.

We went on a date last Saturday. Our first in a year. A year. We took Ember on a hike. Allan wanted to hike to the very top of the Superstition mountains. It’d be about a five hour trek. I wasn’t looking forward to it in the slightest. These days, with limited sleep, my idea of a date or of a break is certainly not sweating it out on a desert mountain. My idea of a date is a movie, dinner (someone else cooking?!), maybe a massage. Sitting and doing nothing. Something of that sort… Photobucket

I am the type that does something full force. I want it done perfectly, I want to put all my energy into it, or I won’t do it at all. Photobucket

I’d been up until 1am several times that week. Ember is getting two more teeth and sleep, which hasn’t been gotten in over a year, was even more limited than usual for me. I woke up dizzy and with a splitting headache. Photobucket

But we had plans. And I don’t break plans like that. I don’t disappoint Allan on his first date in a year. Dates are way more for him than for me. I usually just go along and try to make him happy. Because he deserves some happiness. Photobucket

Two hours in and I wasn’t feeling so hot. I didn’t feel like I was really tired but I was tired. It was weird. My muscles felt perfectly fine but I felt weighted… like I was moving through quicksand. Photobucket

Also worrying about Ember overheating (it happened to be the hottest day of the year so far and we were out at 11am-1pm!) I decided we should just head back and maybe we could leave Ember at home and have a real date. An alone date. Photobucket

We cooled off in the air conditioned car. We made plans to go out to lunch and then see The Hunger Games. Photobucket

I went pee after hiking and my body was shaking when I sat down. My muscles were ok, but I was shaking. It was weird. Photobucket

And my head was pounding SO bad. I’ve never had such a bad headache before and that’s saying a lot because I get intense migraines fairly often. Photobucket

We dropped Ember off at home and went to In N’ Out. I was so tired I felt like I couldn’t move. And my stomach was growling so bad, I figured I was just starving because I’d only had a half granola bar that day and it was after 3pm by the time we got to the restaurant. We ordered food and I almost collapsed into the booth. I scarfed the food down super fast and felt slightly better for a few minutes. Except my head would not stop pounding. It hurt so bad I could barely keep my eyes open. But we had plans to see a movie and so I figured sitting back in a theater chair I’d be ok. Photobucket

But I wasn’t. The movie eventually started and my symptoms all got worse and worse. The last half of the movie was fairly torture for me but I didn’t want to let Allan know because I didn’t want to ruin the movie for him. Looking back, I should have! haha Photobucket

When the movie finally ended I said something like, “Thank goodness!” and somehow made it to the car. I was struggling with intense nausea and the worst headache imaginable. If I laid back to ease my headache my stomach would feel like it was going to start heaving. So I’d lean forward and breathe deeply to hold off the impending vomiting and then my head would pound. It was rough. I also started shivering/shaking really severely. We figured I had dehydration and heat fatigue or something. Photobucket

Once home I ran to the bathroom and puked and puked. The nausea was mostly gone after that so that was good. But the headache and shakes were getting worse. Allan brought me water which I sipped as much as possible to rehydrate and I curled up in bed and fell asleep, (with Ember who Allan had brought to me to nurse), at 7pm. Photobucket

The next day I felt better. I’ve had headaches since but that’s because I have yet to get a full night’s sleep since! haha

These next few pictures are from a couple weeks ago when we cleaned and packed the house to put on the market. PhotobucketPhotobucket

Even at a year and a half old she still falls asleep in my lap while breastfeeding. My toddler who acts as needy as a newborn 😛 PhotobucketPhotobucket

These pictures are a few weeks old, she now sleeps a lot in her (and my) bed. I nurse her to sleep and then scoot out of the bed and she’ll sleep on her own for a couple hours. PhotobucketPhotobucket

I’m as overweight as ever but have been working out consistently for months! I’m proud of that. This day we went on a walk. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Ember is into everything. She climbs, she opens every door in the house, she destroys, ugh- toddlers! Photobucket

Another family walk. PhotobucketPhotobucket

Every single day Ember gets into the dishwasher. She loves to unload and reload it. Every morning (or the night before) I have to make sure to pull out the silverware section because she’ll walk around the house with knives if I don’t! Photobucket

One day she was especially cranky. She fell asleep while nursing but I had to pee and so I laid her on my bed real quick to run to the bathroom, she surprisingly stayed asleep. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket PhotobucketPhotobucket

The morning of my 29th birthday (Tuesday), I wanted a shot of me without makeup or hair done first thing in the morning. I’m getting old. It’s funny that my twenties are almost gone. I spent every bit of them taking care of other people. PhotobucketPhotobucket

Payson had peed his bed that morning. Happy Birthday to meeeee, cleaning up peeeeee! PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Big girls at school, hanging out with the little two in Brooklyn’s room. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

A bunch of pictures of the little two in the family room. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Monday Allan took the Sequoia to get a few repairs. He wasn’t back in time for me to go pick up the girls so they had to take the bus. We walked to the bus stop to get them. Photobucket

Yesterday dropping the girls off at school. Photobucket

This morning before taking the girls to school. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

The girls wore matching shirts and hairstyles and loved it. They’re so cute loving to match. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Random two of Ember. She’s so flipping cute. PhotobucketPhotobucketAnd that, is all.

The Recent

I’ve been craving outside time so much lately. I’ve had sick kids almost nonstop for 2 1/2 months so playing outside hasn’t been an option. None of them have much stamina. Or when they do, a different sibling doesn’t. It’s frustrating for me, I feel I’ve been trapped inside forever!!

So the other night I was lamenting the lack of exercise and sun exposure to Allan at work and he came home half an hour early just so that I could get a run in before he went to his church meeting!

I don’t have a double jogging stroller yet (waiting for the local second hand store to get one in) so I used my regular double stroller and didn’t run very fast. Brooklyn came with me too and she ran the whole time I did!

This morning taking Brooklyn to school. Sierra is home very sick.

I don’t know why I snapped pictures of all of this, just had my camera in my hand so did.

Payson got ahold of my sunglasses and he and Ember had fun goofing off wearing them.

Half Day

Every third Wednesday of the month the kids have a half day of school. Usually it’s annoying because I have to drive an hour for them to go to school for three, but today it was good timing because when I got to the school I saw Sierra walking towards the car and she didn’t look good. She was near tears in the car because she was struggling to get her seatbelt on. She had a long sleeve shirt and sweater on and was saying she was cold and it was close to 70 degrees.
Needless to say, my poor baby is sick 🙁

Brooklyn on the other hand is quite well and taking the extra time off school to cause chaos and destruction in my home, her usual. There was a blissful ten minutes of quiet while she did her homework. I’m about two seconds away from assigning her an essay on why it’s important to be nice to your siblings 😛

Sierra’s Homework

Sierra gets extra homework packets every week because she’s ahead. They’re mostly reading packets and she loves them.
Anyway, here is a small section of one of the pages. She has to fill the blanks in to make words. The teacher is perfectly ok with her making words that aren’t real, she circles the nonsense words. This she did all on her own and I had to stop myself from laughing when I checked it.
