And Then There Were Two

Sierra’s first day of school!

Would you all hate me if I skipped telling the boring story of how and why she’s going to school now? It’s not interesting at all and I talk way too much and don’t feel like typing ten paragraphs about it. haha!

I was waiting for Brooklyn and Payson to climb out of our car so I snapped some pictures of Sierra in the meantime.

Which turned out to be a GREAT decision because once we were in school and had done her vision and hearing tests and finished signing her in and all they hurried her into class and suddenly I was standing in the hallway without her and without a good first day picture 🙁

This next one is my favorite. It’s the one that will go front and center in her album. My little Sierra off to school. I can’t believe it and yet with how SMART she is and basically perfect (social, friendly, funny, sweet, cute…) it just fits 🙂

Here she is waiting for the school nurse to give her a vision and hearing test.

I am SO PROUD of this child. I’m feeling emotional all of the sudden looking through these and thinking about her going off to school. It all happens so fast. Time really does fly by.

I held my camera at my waist and snapped this to check the lighting because I was going to take a picture of her by her classroom door but she was ushered off to sit with the rest of the class and I didn’t get a chance. It’s not a big deal, but I’m glad I have this shot anyway.

And then, feeling like a psycho mom, I had the secretary (she walked us in) wait for just a SEC so I could snap this before leaving.

And then there were two at home.

And life became a thousand times more simple.

The goal of my day now is simply to play with my kids?

I can focus on one kid at a time. I can give the little kids all the attention they need without worrying about interrupting Sierra’s lessons. I can not feel guilt at having to stop and nurse or change or play with Ember because Sierra’s waiting for my help… Payson is the oldest and within an hour was… MATURE. He is such an awesome kid and thrives with one on one time.

So yep, Sierra goes to school for the first time and at home there are two.

  • Look at her! She doesn't seem the least bit nervous…and her first-day outfit is adorable. 🙂
I bet it's completely surreal just having two kids home now. Think back to where you were a year ago with all four home and all the home-schooling…completely different atmosphere, I imagine!
Payson is going to love having his mama dote on him 🙂 Hudson loves our days home together (although he always ends up getting lonesome for his Emmy partway through the day).

  • She is ADORABLE! I love all those pics in the parking lot! I love her outfit! Can she wear her braces under her boots? Are they working out for her? She looks SO super excited to be starting school.

I know it must feel like a different world with only 2 at home during the day! Isn't it crazy how changing that dynamic changes everything!? The 2 littles look SO CUTE together! 🙂

  • She's so beautiful. I admire you for homeschooling as long as you have. I know I don't have that in me. Does your school have all day kindergarten or does she go half day? I'll bet it's a big change with just the two little ones! Enjoy! You deserve it. 🙂
