Mesa Arizona Temple

Sunday we went to the Mesa temple to walk around. There was an awesome storm coming; the sky looked amazing. Because of the awesomeness of the sky overhead Allan insisted on holding Ember and my diaper bag and my camera bag so I could take pictures! I must have told/asked him twenty times to let me take at least one bag or hold Ember for at least a couple minutes but he was stubborn about me getting the short time we were there to take pictures!

It was really hot outside despite the impending storm and the fact that it was 7pm. The kids were pink cheeked and sweaty minutes after arriving. That didn’t phase them though. So many new things to look at, no time for worrying about the heat!

I wish there were desert storms here every day! With skies like this I’d be in photography heaven!

Ember was quite happy in daddy’s arms the whole time.

The kids really liked the fountains and water. To be honest I did, too!

We’d not been there long when we saw the visitor center and the appeal of the air conditioning inside had us indoors immediately.

The kids loved the place. It reminded me of the first time I went to a temple visitors center as a child. I was probably 12 or around there somewhere and we went to the Salt Lake City temple. It was a really special time. I’ll never forget the peaceful, happy feelings of that day. Watching my kids in this visitors center made me wonder if they’d remember this short, hot visit to the temple together when they are older.

There was a model of the ancient city of Jerusalem and what it most likely looked like. I enjoy looking at it as much as the kids do!

We came outside and wow was that storm almost here! The sky looked like something you’d see in a movie!

If it hadn’t been so hot I’d loved to have had thirty minutes to walk around and take pictures.

I set my camera down on the grass and used the timer to take a family picture. (But first I snapped this next one while setting the exposure)

  • Cute family shots. And you're right, that sky looks like something out of the movies. A bit spooky, but also really beautiful. Whenever it gets cloudy/stormy here, I head out for photos. I agree with you about a good stormy desert sky. It is something else.

  • That temple pic is gorgeous! I'm sure they will remember visiting. I still remember my visits to the temple or Temple Square as a very young child. It has a way of staying with you. 🙂
