Brooklyn’s New Wall Photo

I got a print done at Costco for Brooklyn’s room. I was surprised by how very excited she was about it! The girls like pictures for their walls but Brooklyn was giddy with excitement over this one in particular.
Photobucket

Since it wasn’t too hot (probably in the 90s) since it was minutes before sunset we stayed out and had some fun for a while.
Photobucket

I asked them if we could take a really quick group shot and they all sat right down for it.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Ember crawled off.
Photobucket

Brooklyn was doing a lot of silly faces.
Photobucket

Cute!

My three older kids all love feathers. I remember me and my siblings loved finding feathers as kids, too.

Reading on the Couch

I found some little toy lizards at Hobby Lobby yesterday. The kids wanted them and begged for them and 99.9% of the time I say no to toys but since they were only 50 cents for a pack of 3 and my kids LOVE little toy animals/reptiles/insects I said I’d buy them and we could start our own reading program. Every five books they read they get a toy lizard.
So we got home and Brooklyn grabbed a huge stack of library books and started reading to the other kids. It was adorable.
Photobucket

Sierra will listen to Brooklyn reading but Payson doesn’t really like it. He only wants mommy to read.
So instead he sat there making silly faces at me. His faces make me laugh every single time and he loves that.

Photobucket

I’d just finished nursing Ember and as soon as she was full she quickly crawled over. She loves books as much as her siblings do.

Target for School Supplies

We got Brooklyn’s school supply list in the mail last week so yesterday we went to Target to get it all bought.
Ember was in a good mood. We walked down the baby aisles since I was looking for some new onesies for her (size 18 months! Chubby girl!) and every time we passed toys her eyes would light up and if I picked one up to show it to her she’d do her flirty little smile and bat her lashes. Seriously this child… I love her so much!
Photobucket

I caught the perfect picture of Brooklyn for this phase in her life. Everything is exaggerated and extreme. She’s always looking for something to tattle on her siblings over or to remark negatively about. Always. And the teeniest little thing will set her off.
Photobucket
Here she was telling me, “MOM! Mom, Payson was playing with all of those toys and knocked them off and made a HUGE mess! Can you even believe that? What a horrible child! He’s so horrible. He’s so bad! I can’t believe he did that!”

Me, noticing not a toy on the ground and Payson just finishing putting away a potty chair he’d been looking at (without being asked to put it back)… I calmly reply, “I don’t see any toys.”
Brooklyn, “Well, he cleaned them up right away.”
Me, “Sounds like a very good little boy to me.”

Every ten minutes she’s saying something like that. Over dramatizing everything. I mean everything. Payson takes a sip of his drink and a drop spills on his shirt:
“MOM!! MOM!! Payson SPILLED his DRINK on his SHIRT! He’s the MESSIEST eater in the ENTIRE world!! I can’t BELIEVE he SPILLED his DRINK! He should NEVER get drinks AGAIN!”

Ooookaaaay….

There’s a lot of other stories but those are the more mild ones that I feel ok sharing. lol

We got all her school supplies and we all feel excited about school starting. I think she’s going to really love school. I think I’m going to really love not having someone arguing with me every second of the day 😉

10 Months Old

Random thoughts and unrelated pictures of Ember at 10 months old!
Photobucket
When Ember was around 6 months old I went to the store to buy her summer wardrobe. I remember seeing all the cute little dresses and thinking how perfect it would be to buy ten and have those be all she wore once it was hot.

One piece sundress= cheaper and less of a hassle and super cute. Such a smart mom I am!

I failed to remember that both my daughters as crawling babies had hated dresses and Ember probably would, too.
And sure enough, she started crawling and suddenly all the cute dresses were basically worthless. She whines a lot as the fabric of the dress gets caught under her knees and prevents her from crawling easily.
Photobucket
All this to say, I’m quite bummed about having to go back to the store and buy her a new wardrobe. Sure I’ll buy cheapy cheap stuff and not too much of it, but still.

Changing gears, this little Ember baby of mine is the best thing that has ever happened to me! She is the light in my life. She makes my worst moods vanish with her sweet smile and pretty brown eyes. The way her nose crinkles up so much when she smiles. The smile that makes her cheeks so puffy. The smile that involves her opening her tiny mouth as wide as it goes and having that cute little tongue poke out a bit.
Photobucket

She is such a joy. 10 months of absolute joy with this girl. I am so lucky! There has not been one minute of one day of the past 10 months that I haven’t wanted to scoop her up and hold her close. I love every single second of being this little girl’s mother.

Sure she’s my worst sleeper. She even has her extremely-colicky-as-a-newborn big brother beat! But just as he was worth every second of suffering, she is worth every second of lost sleep. And oh boy are there a whole lotta missed seconds of sleep this year!!

My Family, They Do Things

Brooklyn drew this picture the other day. That’s us at the movie theater.
Photobucket

Then she drew a funny picture of me.
Photobucket

She was cracking up laughing over it. She said she drew it special for me to make me laugh.
Photobucket

Allan bought some ceiling fans the other day. And installed them himself! For not having any experience with wiring of any sort it was pretty cool that he figured it out so fast.
Photobucket

Right after he installed the fan he used his drill to get a sauce bowl out of the sink. It was wedged in the drain so bad there was nothing else to do to get it out. Though we both tried!
Photobucket
Photobucket

The rest of the sauce bowls are in our Goodwill box now. Can’t risk having the sink clogged up again!
Photobucket

While we were working on getting the bowl out of the drain Payson was carrying around his current favorite book, The Grouchy Ladybug, and as soon as he saw an opportunity he asked, “Mom, can you read this to me please, mommy?” (He phrases it like this every time)
Photobucket

Allan started on the second ceiling fan installation in our bedroom. I put Ember in her crib with her toys to keep her busy. She sat in there quite happily playing while Allan worked.

Payson was really intrigued by Ember’s bed full of toys. He asked if he could go in there with her and though I was inclined to say yes because that seemed so cute, I said no because I know he would just steal her toys and push her around. He loves her but he’s not a good sharer at all!
Photobucket

So he went back to the older girls to hang out.

Sunday Allan’s parents came over to hang out and have dinner. Allan’s dad brought steaks which Allan BBQ’d. I do have pictures of his parents but they like to not be on my blog 😉

We were all sitting at the computer looking at pictures from their recent trip to Switzerland (where my brother-in-law and his family are currently living) and I kept glancing out the window because the sky was stormy gray and awesome. Finally I said, I just have to go outside and take a couple pictures! Allan came with me and I snapped a few.
Photobucket

We ended up talking and joking around while I messed with my settings. I ended up not having him pose at all. I LOVE these of him just being him!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

I told him I should probably get one of him smiling and got this one.
Photobucket

And then even though we both felt awkward since we didn’t plan on any pictures that day, we took a couple holding the camera out.
Photobucket

It was almost like a tiny date out there in the desert! 🙂
Photobucket

I’ve already printed and framed that one of us that I posted before but I also like this one.
Photobucket

Here are a couple other pictures of that rainbow. It was so cool to have the sky and environment looking so cool with a rainbow right in the middle of it all. These pictures are SOOC (unedited) except sharpened for web!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

I edited this one just slightly to make it look more… dead? Desaturated, depressing? Cool? I don’t know, I kind of like the SOOC versions! haha, but I’m too lazy to go back and resize the SOOC and upload it!
Photobucket

We went inside and looked at some more of my in-laws’ vacation pictures (which I enjoyed, of course) and then I couldn’t resist telling the kids to come outside for a little while because it looked SO COOL! It was SO yellow and… almost alien looking. I’ve never seen the outdoors look so color tinted before living in Arizona.

Allan told the kids to get shoes on. He helped Payson with his. (I desaturated most of these pictures because they were too yellow straight out of the camera!)
Photobucket
Photobucket

I told the kids I wanted just a quick picture and then they could run around and play. I took this of Brooklyn and Payson while Sierra was getting her shoes on.
Photobucket

And they were very impatient to go run around so I only snapped a couple. But I LOVE them! (Ember was inside sleeping)
Photobucket
Photobucket

That night we were watching Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers, and there was this AWESOME lightning storm going on outside. As much as I LOVE The Two Towers I kept watching the storm, too. I didn’t want to go outside to watch because it wasn’t raining and was pretty darn hot! I kept debating grabbing my camera and attempting a lightning picture.

Finally I told Allan I just had to go outside and try to get a picture. He thought it wasn’t a good idea and that I really needed to read up on how to take lightning pictures before I attempted them. I told him that sure you could do that but that it would be more fun to see if I could do it on my own.

I was pretty darn proud of my first attempt!!!
Photobucket

Now by the time I finally decided to attempt a picture the lightning storm was basically over. I was SO sad!! It was the BEST lightning storm and I totally missed it! Bummer. There were a few measly slivers of lightning left but that’s it. But next time I’m so playing with my camera early on in the storm!
Photobucket

Today was another summer movie. Cats and Dogs or something like that. It wasn’t nearly as painfully boring as Yogi Bear but pretty close. haha!
Photobucket

It’s going to be our last movie because I’m just sick of them. Ember poops at 9:45am on the dot and guess when the movie starts? 9:45! So I have to leave the theater with her and Payson to change her every single stinking time! I leave the girls to save our seats otherwise we sit in the very front row or something! It’s stupid. lol! Not to mention, Ember doesn’t sleep despite it being her naptime, she just grabs at everything around her. Her very favorite of all is to yank stuff out of my diaper bag and toss it on the floor. She LOVES that. She also likes to play with the straws in her siblings’ cups. Oh and today she managed to grab a piece of popcorn from the bag due to a strategic and effective lunge mid-movie. lol. The girl is determined! (She didn’t eat it, of course, I was holding her obviously!)
Photobucket(Oh guess what, she fell asleep during the last five minutes. That’s nice. Squirmy girl all through the movie and crashed when it’s time to go. At least she’s quiet and happy during the movie! Just wants mommy’s stuff and not the toys and snack I bring her!)

She woke up two seconds after Sierra took that picture because Payson was throwing a major fit. I asked him if he wanted to be in a group picture and he looked at me like I was crazy and shouted no. I told him I was taking a picture of the girls and he could be in it if he wanted. I told him he could make an angry face because he was so mad. He did!
Photobucket(His fit was over something stupid. Probably about who got to hold the empty cup or something!)

All the movie shots from this summer:

I stopped at Barnes and Noble before heading home to flip through some photoshop books. I got CS5 after using elements for the past 5 years and it doesn’t come with a manual. Plus I’d be interested in learning some more advanced editing techniques. The book I want is $50 so I decided to come home and check ebay instead!
Photobucket

My kids touched every toy in the store and begged for each one. I don’t know how many times I’ve told them to stop asking me for things because they’re not getting anything until Christmas.
So then it’s, “Mom, I want this for Christmas.” over and over.
Photobucket

These were Sierra’s most favorite toys in the store. So she could have friends for her stuffed animals. Yes, because the fifty stuffed animals at home need more friends.
Photobucket

Oh and very last of all. I took some pictures this morning on my ipod when I was out running.

Ember Silly

The nickname Ember is called the most is Ember Silly. Shortened to Silly, naturally. And pronounced Seely. And drawn out, “Ember Seeeeeeely.” And in an odd voice.
Allan created this nickname. We all love it and use it. lol
Photobucket
Ember Seely had a terrible time sleeping last week. She was restless and agitated and I was a tired, tired woman.
And she chewed on her fingers a lot. And she bit down on her toys more than usual.

Now these are pretty obvious teething signs so I hoped maybe all this fussiness was for a reason.

And yep, Saturday her very first tooth popped through! Her bottom left one.

I told Allan that even the fourth time is just as exciting as the first! It’s so fun to feel her little gums with that tiny tooth poking through! And she is constantly feeling it with her tongue and constantly has her two fingers in her mouth. I’m hoping she doesn’t start biting me. I’m hopeful that since she’s not a biter now that she won’t suddenly become one so my boobies will be safe. lol

(She doesn’t sleep in that crib. She gets pretty upset if I lay her in it even if she was fast asleep. She does, however, love to play it it!)

So Long Tumbling!

Brooklyn’s very last tumbling class of the year was this last Wednesday. Allan left work early to be there which really meant a lot to her.
Photobucket

Just this last month Payson has entered into the not-interested, want-to-leave phase of little brotherness. He doesn’t want to sit and watch or sit and wait while the big girls are doing stuff. He wants to run around and he wants to leave. And so he was everywhere that evening. I told him to sit down and stay on the bench at one point and he ignored me and was walking to an area that was distracting. I (gently) grabbed his arm and lead him back to the bench. He told me, “No, let me go, that’s rude!”
Photobucket

Ember was there, too. Happy and smiling at everyone.
Photobucket

When I started editing these pictures I blurred everyone’s face at first for internet safety. Then I decided it looks stupid and takes too long so didn’t do it for the rest. That’s why only this next picture is blurred. lol
Photobucket

I love that Brooklyn tries her best and looks really shy and glances at me and Allan after every single thing she does to see if we’re watching and what our reactions are.
Photobucket

She acts so sweet during class. I know she’s going to do so well at public school this year! She loves being around people and her peers! Even though I gave her several days a week with kids through classes and stuff, for my little social butterfly it just wasn’t enough! (This is probably a surprise to most of you reading, she is going to public school this year, I do plan on blogging about that in more detail if I ever find time enough! Sierra is still being homeschooled.)

I like how cute she looked watching her teacher and the other kids on the bars.
Photobucket

Her favorite part of gymnastics is working on the bar.
Photobucket

She’s usually really good but she was so distracted by trying to smile at me that she wasn’t paying attention at all. lol
Photobucket

I love that her instructor has them stand and pose at the end of each show day. But for some reason Brooklyn got really shy. The last two times we had show days she had a huge smile and posed and this time she said she didn’t know why but she just felt shy. Cute!
Photobucket

And a new thing her instructor had them do was get a group shot. I liked that!
