Start of Something

It’s January 1st. It’s time to make resolutions, isn’t it?

I have a few. My biggest one is to just enjoy life. Sit back and soak it all in.

Related, my second biggest one is to remain calm through the stressful parts of being a mom of four. I get so stressed out with all the things I have to do sometimes. Lots of times. I need to work on just letting go.

Besides those two things I have a couple fun photo projects I’m starting.

The first is a photo of me with all my kids every week. The second is a family photo every week (my favorite!) and third is a photo a day project. I joined a group on flickr to keep me motivated.

And last, I’m going to try to read my Bible in 90 days following along with some others online through the blog mom’s toolbox.

So that’s it for new year’s goals. But being a new year I figured this was a good time to post a few of my favorite blogs from 2010! I really need to put my favorite blogs in my sidebar sometime!

And what’s a post without photos?

I started the picture a week with my kids thing:

Brooklyn got silly and Sierra got upset because, “You’re blocking my face, Brooklyn!”

I snapped this of the kids in the afternoon sun.

And then Brooklyn took a turn with my camera.

I made a quick run to the store today to rent a movie for the kids. I put my shoes on in the laundry room like always and didn’t realize, until I reached the store, that I was wearing my black skinny jeans. With gray and pink shoes. Ugly.

And while I snapped the picture of my shoes Payson wandered outside with me. Also with his hotdog.

A hotdog is a perfect first day of the year dinner.

With a super special treat. Rootbeer!

  • Happy New Year! We read several of the same blogs! πŸ™‚ I am also doing a 365 photo challenge and started a new blog to keep track. My first photo was last night at 12:05am with the whole family. I hope I can keep up! Can you link the Flickr site you have joined? I love browsing Flickr!

  • Oh I love the idea of a weekly family photo. I would love to try that! Thanks! Brooklyn is doing a fantastic job with taking photots πŸ™‚

  • I want to do all your photo projects too!! That's pretty much a joke though because I just can't keep up and never stick with it. I get so mad at myself for not keeping it going! I want to do it so badly though! I'm going to AT LEAST try to do the family photo once a month thing. That's only 12 photos. I think I can handle that! I'm going to try to jot down some notes about each month and have a photo to go with it and make a book at the end of the year. I want to try the photo a day, but I'm going to use my cell phone. That way there is no pressure to have a “good picture” and I won't feel the need to edit it! lol! My problem is that when I try to take “one photo a day” I end up taking 50 photos and feeling overwhelmed that I can't pick just one. I'm going to pretend I have a film camera that only has 365 frames! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, thanks for doing these projects because it motivates me to do them too!

  • Seriously? I don't know how you bloggers do it! How do you find the time to regularly post photos and update your own blog…and follow so many others…and keep up with…life?? It would be so nice to have all the pictures and memories at the end of the year and print blog books like I read about, but it seems like it could become overwhelming in terms of the time involved.

Here are some questions from a non-blogger: Did you have a private blog before going public? Are you ever concerned about sharing information/photos online? I know there are ways to be careful and keep things private, but then I read from time to time how someone's photos are stolen and posted on some unsavory site in cyberspace…gives me the heebie-jeebies! How did you learn html to personalize your blog? Online tuts? Help from other bloggers?

Thanks in advance if you have a moment to answer any of the above! Happy New Year!

  • Hee…I just took a peek at mindy-ree's blog (hope that's okay to do and mention here. I could probably use a 101 course in blog etiquette, too!) and her most recent post is exactly what I'm talking about and how I think I would end up feeling! Kudos to all of you for taking the blog plunge anyway – even if you feel you have less than enough time to devote to it – and for willingly sharing your lives with the rest of us. πŸ™‚
