How to Make that Outfit

In my last post of Ember a couple of you commented and asked about the outfit she’s wearing. I made the outfit using a pair of thigh high socks I found at Target.

To make the baby stockings you simply cut the socks as long as your baby’s leg is from thigh to ankle. I make mine a bit longer so they go over her feet or scrunch up a lot because I like that look.
Photobucket

To make the ruffled onesie I used this tutorial by Elizabeth Kartchner.
Photobucket

To make the headband I use two different tutorials for the flowers.
Heather Bailey’s yoyo tutorial for the smaller two flowers.
And this tutorial at the mother huddle for the larger one.
I added some prima (scrapbook) flowers and beads to the fabric flowers.
Then I hot glued the three flowers together and then to a piece of lace from an old, ripped shirt of Brooklyn’s.
Photobucket

And that’s it!
Photobucket

Total cost for me? $5!
Photobucket

I think Ember’s a fan!
Photobucket
It’s all super comfy, too… the headband fits her perfectly since it’s handmade. You know how baby headbands can be tight and leave marks? This one didn’t leave even a hint of a mark after she wore it for an hour!

The onesie is a simple white organic one that’s super soft. And the baby stockings are so so warm and snuggly.
Photobucket

And the whole thing took less than an hour!
Photobucket

Brooklyn and Sierra really liked it. They call stuff I make them “made clothes” which cracks me up.
Photobucket
I made the shirts they wore in our family picture this year. I was having no luck finding coordinating clothes for all of us girls that were cheap enough, so I was going to settle on plain white t-shirts for everyone. I remembered seeing the ruffled shirt tutorial this summer and figured it would be easy to make some.

And they are reeeeally easy!
Photobucket
Brooklyn and Sierra love matching Ember.

Here are a couple other pictures I took of all four kids while they were dressed up.

Photobucket
Ok, that’s enough pictures from me! Yikes.

Ember says have an exciting New Year’s.
Photobucket

Looks like she plans to!
Photobucket

Toys

She loves toys.
Photobucket

Just this week she’s started reaching towards them.
Photobucket

She can’t quite grab them yet (once in a while she does for a couple of seconds) but I can tell it’ll be soon.
Photobucket

She’s not the only one in this house who likes baby toys.

Photobucket

Payson was playing with the counting bears a lot.

Photobucket

I took this picture to show how messy my house can get. Fifteen minutes before this picture was taken this room was spotless!
Photobucket

That’s some mess, huh mom?
Photobucket

Delight

I adore this baby of mine.
Photobucket
She brings joy into my heart every minute of the day.
Photobucket
I cherish the blessing it is to be her mother. I cherish the gift it is to stare into her pretty eyes and watch her bitty mouth turn into a smile. I cherish the pride I feel when I see her light up when she spies me. I cherish the bliss it is to hear her tiny voice as she coos and giggles.
Photobucket
I am so very lucky. I know that deep in my soul. I’ve been blessed four times over by beautiful, healthy children. Thank you God for my gorgeous babies and the happiness they bring me every day 🙂

Jeans without a Bunched Crotch

And only $19.99. I can afford a pair at that price!
Photobucket
Photobucket
I got some new jeans from Target. They fit perfectly. It’s nice to not have a bunchy crotch. Bunchy crotches are not attractive at all.

I took about 20 pictures trying to get an in-focus shot of my pants without me looking like a complete idiot. But I was failing miserably so I got Payson to join me because he can make any picture cuter!
Photobucket

He was excited to help. He is still obsessed with self timer shots. In the picture below he’d ran to me and posed and smiled and then already ran back to the camera to push the shutter again!
Photobucket

And yes he really loves his mama. 2 1/2 years and still the biggest mama’s boy in the world. Which I really love 🙂
Photobucket

Then I set up the camera for some closer shots.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Later in the day he was sitting with me on the couch. Payson is next to me most of the day, actually. If I’m nursing Ember on the couch he brings his toys over to play next to me or he just cuddles up to me and rests his head on my shoulder. If I’m cooking he’s underfoot. If I’m going pee he’s crying at the locked baby gate because he wants to come in. (lol) If the older three kids are playing outside and I’m not he constantly knocks on the sliding glass door and asks, “Mommy outside?” And if I say no, I’m cooking (or cleaning or feeding Ember, or whatever) he pouts and asks for a hug and to come in. He stays in for a while to hang out with me and then goes back out, only to repeat the process five minutes later.
He’s such a mama’s boy!
Photobucket

Some funny things he says:
-When watching Ember nursing, “Emmow’s eating boobies?”
-When I’m changing his diaper, “My big peepee! My big bum!” (I have no idea why he says that! lol)
-Pronounces many things to sound like bad words: truck and suck both sound like the f-word. (He offers me his binky sometimes and says, “suck it”… which sounds like “f–k it.”!)
-Calls himself Pays-a-Pays which is the nickname we call him by.
-Even if he has a huge load of poo, if you ask him if he has pooped or if he needs a new diaper he’ll answer, “No! All clean!!”
-If he gets hurt or is upset he tells me, “I sad, mommy. I sad.”

-Many, many times a day the following mini conversation occurs:
Me: “Payson, guess what!”
Payson, smiling because he loves this game: “What?”
Me: “I love you!”
Payson: “Mommy loves pays-a-pays?”
Me: “Yes, I love you so much! Do you love mommy?”
Payson: “No, daddy!”
Me: “Awwww, that’s sweet you love daddy! Do you love mommy?”
Payson: “No, Payson loves daddy!” (and he’s smiling and you can tell he’s not saying mommy to be funny)
Me, pretending to cry: “You don’t love mommy?”
Payson, smiling and giggling: “Love mommy.”

He also comes up to me so many times during the day and kisses me or hugs me or pats my head or snuggles up to me. He melts my heart so many times I’m surprised it’s still beating.

14 pounds of cuteness!

My baby girl turned 3 months old yesterday!
Photobucket

To mark the occasion I weighed and measured her (weighed her using a swaddling blanket and Allan’s fishing scale, ha)
Sweet girl is 14 lbs. 12 oz and 25”! She has almost exactly doubled her birth weight. She likes to eat, that’s for sure 🙂
Photobucket

And sometimes she is sneezy.
Photobucket

So at 3 months old my adorable baby girl:
-Still sleeps in her parents’ bed all snuggled up with mama.
-Has just started batting at toys!
-Is super happy.
-Smiles and giggles all day long.
-Only sleeps in mommy’s arms, in mommy’s bed while nursing, or in her swing once in a while.
-Likes to suck on her fingers, thumbs and hands. We’re thinking we probably have another thumb sucker 🙂
-Adores mommy and daddy. Likes her brother and sisters as long as mommy is right next to her to keep her safe. Otherwise she cries. lol
-Has finally started to enjoy tummy time! She now lifts her head up and looks around a lot and smiles at her toys.
-Loves to kick and kick and kick when she’s excited.
-Loves to be sung to.
-Loves being bounced on my knees.
-Is the best baby in the world!!

Yes, my little Ember makes my life so much more wonderful. I am thankful every single day to have her. She is the sweetest, cutest, most loving little girl. I never want to be away from her. I am so in love with my little baby!
Photobucket

This baby who is growing way too fast for mommy and who is at this very moment rubbing her face and looking verrrry sleepy. Which means I better go put us both to bed!

That was a Lovely Holiday Weekend

Allan had Friday off work. Usually he works Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve so it was a treat to have that extra day with him. He has New Year’s Eve off this year, too!

On the 23rd we went to Bass Pro Shops to see Santa like we do every year. We got in line and an employee (dressed like an elf, of course) came up and told us only people with tickets could see Santa that evening. We were pretty darned bummed because Bass Pro Shops is a far drive from our house!!

We decided to go home and have hot chocolate with the girls after putting the little kids to bed. Payson can’t have hot chocolate because of allergies.

We stopped at WalMart on the way home so I could buy wrapping paper. Ember was asleep so I went in with only Payson.
Photobucket

He was in a really good mood in the store. Too bad I can’t say the same for poor Ember in the car with Allan. She was really hungry and woke up right after I left. Allan ended up bouncing her the whole time I was in the store. Which was a looong time because WalMart on December 23rd was jam packed!
Photobucket

Christmas Eve day was a wonderful day. I didn’t take any pictures, though! I’m notoriously bad at taking pictures during holidays! We did crafts and baking that day. I cleaned a lot, too. And in the evening we went on a hike, which is where we took that picture in the post below.

After the kids were in bed we got everything ready for Christmas. We were up until 2am, which was brutal the next day! lol

I forgot to take a picture of the presents under the tree, the only thing I regret not having my camera out for 🙁

In fact, I didn’t pick up my camera until all the presents were opened. I don’t regret that, though, because I had such a great time sitting right in the middle of it all and just watching the happiness 🙂

This year Allan picked out all the gifts for the kids except for their gift from Santa and their stocking stuffers! We have been trying to save money and also start teaching the kids to value possessions more so this year we focused on getting the kids stuff they needed for fun family outings instead of getting them boatloads of toys. Snow wear and camping gear were the two big things we looked for.
The kids were totally thrilled 🙂
Photobucket

I bought Payson a potty chair and some undies. I’m not planning on potty training him anytime soon, but sometime in the next year it should happen.
Photobucket

Brooklyn’s gift from Santa was webkinz. Her aunt Mary got her a webkinz (and Sierra, too) when she sent a baby gift for Ember when she was born. Brooklyn’s been obsessed with them and she was over the moon happy Christmas morning when she opened these. She was so excited to have friends for her cat.
Photobucket

Sierra wore her new headband and ring pop and looked so stylish amongst her loot.
Photobucket

Payson was happy to be a part of everything. Having allergies and being the youngest I can tell he feels left out sometimes. Just at mealtimes, having different foods, it really affects him being different, so I try REALLY hard to make everything even with the kids and to make him feel like he’s as much a part of everything as they are!
Photobucket

Photobucket

After opening presents and playing with everything for quite a while we had a late breakfast. And oh what a breakfast it was. Me and Allan worked together to make homemade hashbrowns, eggs, sausage and orange slices. Allan makes the best hashbrowns so I was in heaven!
Photobucket

The girls spent Payson and Ember’s naps working on crafts.
Photobucket

While Allan put my new Christmas gift to work. He got me an upholstery cleaner because I’ve been wanting one for two years!! Having four kids is hard on couches but having a kid with reflux was even worse than normal wear. Payson spit up around ten times a day when he was a newborn and it did a number on my poor, poor couch. Add the fact that the boy manages to get into a bazillion messy things every month and loves to mess up the couch (no really, he loves to use it as a napkin!!) and you have a disgusting piece of furniture:
Photobucket

But now it looks nice again! Which makes me happy 🙂
Photobucket

Photobucket

The two younger kids woke up from their naps and we decided to go on another hike since we didn’t get much time there the day before. We drove back to Picketpost mountain. Payson whined the whole way 😛
Photobucket

Here’s another shot I liked of the family.
Photobucket

The day after Christmas I let the kids watch Christmas movies while I cleaned up. I also did about 7 loads of laundry!
Photobucket

And snapped a picture when the kids were in their church clothes. Though I hadn’t done their hair yet :-S
Photobucket

Ember looked so sweet in her hand-me-down Christmas dress 🙂
Photobucket

I really love hand-me-downs!
Photobucket

We all went outside to play because the weather was so nice.

Photobucket

Ember was out there, too. She is such a sweet baby and smiled and laughed at me but she was actually pretty sleepy and hungry. She spent most of the time nursing.
Photobucket

I love these two; I really love these two together.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We eventually went inside to eat dinner.
Photobucket

We had BBQ steak and chicken along with tater tots and veggies and ranch. Tots are a big hit for the kids lately.
Photobucket

Ember slept for a bit longer.
Photobucket

I let Allan sleep in Sunday so he let me sleep in today. Yep, he’s off again!! This is an amazing treat for me. He pretty much never takes time off work!

I woke up and fed Ember. Allan headed outside with the older girls to do some work in the yard and to take the sunscreens off the windows since we don’t need them in winter.
Photobucket

The girls did such a great job helping outside that they took a break to come in and get ring pops.
Photobucket

And then it was back outside to play!
Photobucket

Photobucket

I’ve been blogging while they’re out there. Allan’s asked me about a hundred times to come out and be with them and help him. Usually I run right on out when he asks, the weather is glorious. But I just wasn’t in the mood this morning after an exhausting weekend. Lovely, fun, happy weekend, but a LOOOOOOT of work, too!!

As I’m typing he asked me another two times to come out!
I hear the two little kids waking up so I’m going to go get them dressed and head on out now!
