You want to know what they eat, huh?

After my picky eater post I got a lot of comments and emails asking what exactly my kids eat.

When I shop for food I have the food pyramid in mind. I base all my meals and snacks for the kids on these basic guidlines: Food Guide.
The link above is AWESOME because it has a chart you can print out where you can write your week’s menu and also check off foods as your child eats them (Dairy, Meat, Vegetable, Fruit, Grain).
I have a chart printed out every week and I do actually fill in it every single day.

So, instead of just rambling on and on with my views on food and stuff I thought once a week I could post our meals from that week. Or maybe once a month I’ll post a few meals from that month?

Last week we actually ate like crap a lot of the time because my mom was visiting. What is it about having a visitor that makes it seem like eating out is necessary? lol

Here are some pictures of times we did eat at home, though. Sorry it’s nothing exciting. Next week’s post will be better!

  • I love your little plate/trays. They remind me of school lunch as a kid. Where can you buy those? I never see them in stores. Or maybe I just haven't noticed.

  • I need to get some of those trays for me! I hate it when my food touches so I always end up using a lot of different plates and bowls when I eat lol. Looks like you and your kids eat very healthy! πŸ™‚ Good for you guys!

  • YOU are MOM OF THE YEAR and I totally SUCK! lol Seriously though, I have NOT been doing a good job of feeding my kids enough healthy stuff! I really really need to do better with this! With Mia being so picky, I pretty much only feed her the things I know she will not throw a huge fit over eating! Pretty much none of which is really all that healthy. πŸ™ Thanks for the inspiration to being a better mom! I am going to print out your little menus and give it a go….I have no idea how it will happen, but I'm going to TRY!

Love the pics by the way! πŸ˜‰ I loved the post of all your pics when your mom came to visit!! Oh and that first shot of you and your mom…yall look exactly alike!!!! πŸ™‚

  • Thank you! This is SO awesome! We eat pretty healthy most of the time, but your meal contents have reminded me of some things that I've forgotten. Please do a post like this occasionally. Love it!

Do you and Allan eat pretty much the same stuff as the girls? I definitely think that I could live on what your girls eat – I have just got to figure out how to cut back on my portion sizes.

    Thank you for the ideas!

  • Love this post! We also have a bunch of those divided plates (for the other commenters, I got my solid ones from Wal-Mart in the summer section, and I have some character ones that I got at a party supply store). Keeps things from touching, and encourages me to put a good variety on their plates at each meal. I am pretty good about making sure my kids at least have some sort of fruit/veggie on their plate (now whether they eat it or not varies each day). But I never really thought much doing the whole food pyramid thing. Adding it to my to do list!

And thank you for the suggestion of showering with Graham, or getting into the tub with him. I am gonna give that a try this week and I'll let you know how it goes! πŸ™‚

  • Ok…so we did it! We took a trip to the store and bought HEALTHY foods!!! I'm totally using Brooklyn and Sierra as my push to get the girls to eat healthy!!! “Seeeeeee…Brooklyn and Sierra do it and look how much fun they are having!!!” lol πŸ˜‰ Anyway, what kind of chicken are you using on that pasta dish?! How did you make it? (the chicken, did you cook it yourself, or buy it already cooked, or what?! please help, I need a “cooking for dummies” book!!! πŸ˜‰ )That looks really yummy though! Today is DAY 1 of HEALTHY eating for us! Thanks for being such an inspiration to me!
